Sega has unveiled a video commemorating the legacy of Sonic Racing games. This joint production by Sega and YouTube channel Sam Procrastination also offers a sneak peek into some additional tracks that will be featured in the forthcoming racing game, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. Take a look at the video below.
According to Tails’ Channel on BlueSky, the video showcases several upcoming tracks for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds – namely Windmill Isle, Starlight Carnival, and Holoska. The trailer also offers brief peeks at some vehicle customization options and hints that Extreme Gear from Sonic Riders will make a comeback in this game too.
It’s not yet confirmed, but the trailer seems to suggest that characters from other Sega series might appear as playable characters in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. In the portions of the video featuring Sonic and Sega All-Stars Racing, there was a focus on the guest characters like Ryo Hazuki from Shenmue and Beat from Jet Set Radio. The commentator even speculates whether these guest characters might return for another race in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds.
Back in the chilly December of 2024, I caught wind of some exciting news that had me jumping with joy – Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds was on its way! Although the announcement trailer was brief, it dropped a tantalizing hint: Shadow the Hedgehog would be joining the race, his trademark red-and-black kart by his side. As for when we can get our hands on this high-speed adventure, Sega hasn’t given us a date just yet, but they’ve confirmed that Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will be available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch. Can’t wait to see what the future holds for this thrilling ride!
In February, we premiered the initial gameplay trailer for our title, highlighting transformable vehicles akin to those seen in Sonic and Sega All-Stars Racing: Transformed. Additionally, Extreme Gear made its comeback. Characters like Sonic, Knuckles, Amy, and Shadow were displayed in the trailer. The video emphasized the game’s time-traveling elements within the race tracks.
In February, there were closed network trials for the game Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. These tests on the PlayStation 5 suggested that the game might soon be available to the public. The trial included six tracks, five of which were from the series named CrossWorlds, and a total of 16 vehicles.
