SEGA has unveiled a trailer celebrating 35 years of Sonic the Hedgehog, which originally launched for the Genesis console on June 21, 1991.
Throughout the year, the company will host a series of exciting events to celebrate the history of the popular platformer game. These include online content showing how the game and its character have changed over time, opportunities for fans to connect at meet-ups and events, special merchandise through partnerships with brands and retailers, temporary museum exhibits and art shows, live concerts, and a brand new story-based podcast.
SEGA is thrilled to be celebrating 35 years of Sonic with its fans,” said Marcella Churchill, VP of brand marketing at SEGA of America. “This anniversary isn’t just about looking back at everything we’ve achieved, but also about what’s next – continuing to create new and exciting things. We’re dedicated to bringing our fans together and making 2026 a year full of unforgettable Sonic experiences!”
Throughout the year, we’ll be sharing more exciting content, collaborations, special items, and experiences to celebrate our anniversary.
