A new cooperative game is launching on PlayStation 5 and PC from a promising development studio. PlayStation is known for its high-quality exclusive games, and while many are created by their own internal teams, they also partner with outside developers. For example, Marvel’s Spider-Man and most Ratchet & Clank games were made before the studio that created them was bought by Sony. Similarly, Death Stranding, developed by Kojima Productions, is now available on Xbox and PC because that studio isn’t owned by PlayStation. And even though Quantic Dream historically published games only on PlayStation, they’ve been able to develop elsewhere as well.
PlayStation has faced some challenges this generation. Early on with the PS5, Sony tried to create more games that were constantly updated and offered ongoing content – often called ‘live service’ games. This is a key reason why they bought Bungie, a studio known for this type of game, hoping they could share their expertise with other Sony teams. However, this strategy hasn’t gone well. The game Concord failed to gain traction, The Last of Us Online was scrapped, and plans for a live-service God of War game were cancelled before they were even revealed. While Fairgames is still in development, many fans aren’t optimistic about it following the issues with Concord.
J.J. Abrams Company Partners With PlayStation for New Co-Op Game from Left 4 Dead Creative

PlayStation is teaming up with Bad Robot Games – the studio behind popular films like Star Trek and Mission: Impossible – to create a brand new four-player co-op shooter. This game, currently without a title, will be available exclusively on PlayStation 5 and PC. It marks Bad Robot Games’ first big venture into gaming, following some smaller projects like the interactive horror series, Silent Hill: Ascension.
Anna Sweet, CEO of Bad Robot Games, announced their collaboration with Sony Interactive Entertainment to develop a brand new game. She stated they have a large vision for this new game world and, with PlayStation’s backing, aim to create a unique and exciting experience for players. Sweet also expressed her excitement about having Mike Booth lead the creative development of a cooperative adventure designed to create memorable moments for players to enjoy with friends.
What’s especially interesting is that Mike Booth, Bad Robot Games’ chief creative officer, is leading the game’s development. He was a lead designer on Left 4 Dead and also worked at Valve on several other titles. It’s still unclear if this new game will involve zombies, but a cooperative game created by one of the main people behind Left 4 Dead is definitely something to look forward to.
