Sony Apparently Pulls the Plug on PC Ports of Saros, Ghost of Yotei

Reports suggest Sony has cancelled plans to release PC versions of two upcoming single-player games, Saros and Ghost of Yotei, as part of a larger shift in their PC gaming strategy.

Although the first game hasn’t yet been released on PS5 and was probably still months away from release, the sequel – which came out last October 2nd – might have become available on platforms like Steam sometime after the summer.

According to Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, PlayStation recently decided to stop working on bringing its first-party games to PC, with the change happening in the last few weeks.

It’s still unclear why they made this decision, but it seems sales were lower than expected. The company likely wants to prioritize its own hardware. Ultimately, exclusive games are meant to draw players into a specific gaming system, which is where the manufacturer makes most of its profit.

Sony has seen record-breaking sales this console generation, with the PlayStation 5 earning more revenue than all of its past consoles combined. However, despite recently starting to release games on PC, those sales still only make up a very small portion – around 1.5% – of their total income.

As a gamer, it’s looking like if I want to experience awesome single-player titles like Saros, Ghost of Yotei, or even future games like Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet and Marvel’s Wolverine, I’ll almost certainly need a PlayStation 5. It seems like those games are going to be PS5 exclusives!
