Okay, this is really strange! I just checked, and Sony actually took down the trailer for “Ebola Village” from their official YouTube channel. I wonder what’s going on?
The game is still expected to be released on January 23rd, as its page remains available on the PlayStation Store.
But clearly the platform holder no longer wanted to host this release’s footage on its account.
Now that the official PlayStation YouTube channel is active again after the holidays, games like ‘Ebola Village’ are receiving more attention.
People are criticizing the platform owner for heavily promoting this new game, which is very similar to Resident Evil Village and other games in that series.

The game, launching on PS5 and PS4 on January 23rd, openly takes inspiration from a famous Capcom series – you can even see it in the logo.

However, here’s how dev Axyos – based in Georgia – describes it:
Okay, so I just started playing this game called Ebola Village, and it’s seriously giving me 90s survival horror vibes – think classic, scary stuff. You play as Maria, and it starts with her just chilling at home when a news report breaks in about some kind of bio-threat. She gets worried about her family – her mom and ex-husband, Ruslan – who live in this remote village, so she heads there to check on them. Let me tell you, things quickly go downhill! You’re basically trying to figure out what’s going on in this creepy village, uncovering its history and finding out who’s responsible for all the nightmare fuel. The atmosphere is intense – it really feels like you’re trapped in this isolated, scary place. It’s a really immersive experience, honestly.
A lot of people are criticizing Sony for featuring this game, but it’s common for publishers to pay to have their trailers shown on Sony’s official YouTube channel, which has nearly 17 million followers.
“What next?” one user wrote. “COVID City?” Another added: “Tuberculosis Town next.”
Recently, the PlayStation Store has faced criticism due to the large number of low-quality games available. Just this week, an independent game developer claimed that the new game, Ghostly Whiskers, copied their original concept.
It’s unclear what the best approach is. While carefully selecting games seems like a good idea, it could also hide games you might enjoy.
We believe the PlayStation Store needs to improve how easily players can find good games. If it prioritizes showing the most worthwhile titles instead of everything that’s released daily, it would likely solve many of the current problems.
