As of Friday, January 9th, 2026, at 6:15 AM, Sony has taken down the trailer for the game Ebola Village from their official YouTube channel. This is an unexpected development.
The game is still expected to be released on January 23rd, as its page remains available on the PlayStation Store.
But clearly the platform holder no longer wanted to host this release’s footage on its account.
Now that the official PlayStation YouTube channel is active again after the holidays, games like ‘Ebola Village’ are receiving more attention.
People are criticizing the platform for heavily promoting this new game, which is very similar to Resident Evil Village and other games in that series.

The game, launching on PS5 and PS4 on January 23rd, openly takes inspiration from another famous series – so much so that its logo resembles the logo of that franchise.

Okay, so I just started playing this game called Ebola Village, and it’s seriously giving me 90s survival horror vibes – think classic, old-school scares. You play as Maria, and it starts pretty normal – she’s chilling at home watching TV when this emergency broadcast comes on about some kind of biological threat. Naturally, she gets worried about her family, especially her mom and ex-husband Ruslan, who live in this remote village. She heads there to check on them, and let me tell you, things go downhill fast. You’re basically trying to figure out what’s going on in this creepy village, uncovering its secrets and learning about its history. It’s a really immersive experience – the atmosphere is super oppressive and the setting feels totally isolated. It’s genuinely unsettling, and I’m hooked trying to find out who – or what – is behind everything.
A lot of people are criticizing Sony for featuring this game, but it’s common for publishers to pay to have their trailers shown on Sony’s official YouTube channel, which has nearly 17 million followers.
“What next?” one user wrote. “COVID City?” Another added: “Tuberculosis Town next.”
Recently, the PlayStation Store has faced criticism due to the large number of low-quality games being released. This week, an independent developer even claimed that the upcoming game, Ghostly Whiskers, copied their concept.
It’s unclear what the best approach is. While carefully selecting games seems like a good idea, it could also hide games you might enjoy.
We believe it’s important to improve how easily players can find games on the PlayStation Store. If the store prioritizes showing the best games, and filters out the daily flood of low-quality releases, it should solve many of the current problems.
