A recent financial report indicates that Sony may be pushing back its plans for the PlayStation 6, according to a leading analyst.
MST Financial analyst David Gibson recently shared his assessment of Sony’s performance, as reported by a Japanese company and translated by VGC.
“Sony expects the PS5’s lifecycle to be extended,” writes Gibson.
“The PS6’s release is likely to be delayed longer than many expected,” he continues.
So, Sony just released their numbers for the last quarter, and things are looking really good! They sold a ton of games, and the PlayStation Store is bringing in a lot of profit, which is awesome. It’s a strong finish to the quarter for them, honestly.
PlayStation is doing exceptionally well, and Sony is aiming to exceed its projected financial goals.
The PlayStation 5 is selling very well, which is likely why Sony isn’t rushing to announce or release its next console just yet.
Everyone’s been saying Nintendo is aiming for a 2027 release for their next console, but honestly, looking at their financial reports often gives you a good idea of what they’re planning way before they actually announce anything. It’s like reading between the lines – you can get a feel for their priorities and timelines just by digging into the numbers.
With all the talk about the PlayStation 6, it’s also worth considering how rising RAM prices likely made Sony rethink its plans for the new console.
We wouldn’t be surprised to learn more about Sony’s plans for the PlayStation 6 this year. If there are any internal delays, we anticipate hearing about them in the coming months.
What are your predictions for the PlayStation 6? Would you be okay with Sony extending the current PS5 generation instead of rushing out a new console? Share your thoughts on the future of gaming in the comments!
