According to reliable leaker NateTheHate, Sony is planning a State of Play presentation next week. Although details are scarce – including the exact date and time – the event is anticipated to precede the Tokyo Game Show 2025. It’s also expected to be our first glimpse of Insomniac Games’ highly anticipated game, *Marvel’s Wolverine*.
The next State of Play presentation will build on the success of June’s event, which was a big hit for Sony. The June livestream attracted over 2.2 million viewers – a record for these types of presentations. At its most popular moment, 2.2 million people were watching live, with an average of 1.9 million viewers throughout the entire stream.
Earlier this month, Sony hosted a State of Play presentation dedicated to the new James Bond game, *007: First Light*, developed by IO Interactive. The presentation showcased several aspects of the game, including its stealth and action elements, the use of Q Branch gadgets, and hand-to-hand combat.
Given how long *Marvel’s Wolverine* has been in the works and Insomniac Games’ reputation, many expect the game to be the main focus of the upcoming State of Play presentation. A report earlier this month hinted at its appearance at the event.
According to insider Tom Henderson, a new State of Play presentation is expected later this month. He also mentioned a reliable source confirmed the trailer for *Marvel’s Wolverine* is finished. Combining these two pieces of information, Henderson believes the trailer will likely debut during the State of Play in September. However, he notes it could also be revealed at The Game Awards, as Geoff Keighley often saves major announcements for that event, or possibly at another event entirely.
A new report this month suggests that development on *Marvel’s Wolverine* is progressing well, and early playtesters have been very positive about both its visuals and gameplay.
Henderson explained in the podcast that the project was significantly delayed. He shared that, beyond the ransomware attack and game leaks, the emotional impact on those whose personal information – like addresses and social security numbers – was exposed was substantial.
The delay impacted the game’s release, but early playtesters have given very positive feedback on how it looks. Hopefully, we’ll hear about a firm release date within the next few weeks.
Next week.
