Fans are eagerly anticipating the return of Lara Croft in a new live-action Tomb Raider series coming to Amazon MGM Studios. The show is being developed by Phoebe Waller-Bridge and stars Sophie Turner as Lara Croft. Turner recently shared a glimpse into her intense training for the role, and revealed that security on the Tomb Raider set is even more strict than it was on the set of Game of Thrones.
On a recent episode of The Julia Cunningham Show, actor Taylor Zakhar Perez discussed his upcoming project. When asked if filming had started, he remained tight-lipped. He then revealed that the scripts for the new Tomb Raider movie are under even stricter security than those for Game of Thrones. “The security is even more intense than it was for ‘Game of Thrones,'” Perez explained. “To access the scripts, it’s like the process for ‘Steel,’ but multiplied by ten. There are layers upon layers of logins and facial recognition checks.”
Cunningham expressed surprise, asking if the scripts for Tomb Raider included facial recognition technology. Turner responded, agreeing it was a very advanced feature.
Sophie Turner Is With Tomb Raider For The Long Haul

Taylor Turner expressed her excitement about being involved with Tomb Raider, hoping to continue with the show for a long time. She feels fortunate to have joined the series and appreciates the chance to develop a character over many episodes, as that’s something she enjoys about television. She’s optimistic the show will have a long run, allowing for that continued character development.
Cunningham inquired about Turner’s experience collaborating with Phoebe Waller-Bridge, playfully calling her “our modern-day Shakespeare.” Turner enthusiastically agreed, expressing her amazement at the opportunity to work with – and even be in the same room as – Waller-Bridge, hoping to learn from her incredible talent simply by being near her.
Sophie Turner Reveals Challenges of Tomb Raider Training (And How It Compares to Game of Thrones)

When asked about preparing for the role in Tomb Raider, including physical training like climbing and swinging, Turner explained that she’s been training intensely – about eight hours a day, five days a week – since February of the previous year. It’s been a demanding process.
Turner said the most surprising thing about her training was discovering she has a long-term back issue. She also found it’s much easier to get in shape if you have some prior workout experience, which she didn’t have, and it took her many months to reach a good fitness level. That was her biggest takeaway.
Cunningham asked Turner if people often mistakenly remember her Game of Thrones role as constantly fighting with swords. Turner agreed, saying she was usually the one receiving the beatings, not delivering them. She added that it’s empowering to finally learn how to fight back instead of just being on the receiving end.
Tomb Raider currently has no release date.
