Sophie Turner is on the mend.
The actress known for her role in Game of Thrones, and currently playing Lara Croft in the upcoming Tomb Raider series on Prime Video, experienced a minor injury during filming, causing a brief pause in production.
Sophie Turner recently suffered a small injury, according to a statement from Amazon MGM Studios published on March 29th in Entertainment Weekly. Filming has been temporarily paused so she can recover, and the studio hopes to restart production soon.
The update arrived without further specifics, but follows Amazon’s initial reveal of Sophie as Lara Croft – a role previously portrayed by Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander – as filming began on the eagerly awaited series from Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
In photos released on January 15th, Sophie Turner wore a turquoise tank top, black shorts, and red sunglasses. The 30-year-old, who shares 5-year-old Willa and 3-year-old Delphine with her ex-husband Joe Jonas, also styled her hair in a braid similar to the character she was portraying, letting a few strands fall loose. She completed the look with fingerless gloves, a utility belt, and a prop gun.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been following Camila Mendes’ career closely, and she recently shared how thrilled she was to land her newest part – playing a real adventurer! It’s fantastic to see her taking on roles that clearly excite her, and she’s been buzzing about this one.
In a statement released in September, she expressed her long-standing admiration for Tomb Raider and the character Lara Croft. She acknowledged the challenge of following Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander’s strong portrayals, but expressed confidence in Phoebe’s ability to lead the franchise, believing both the series and the character are in capable hands.

Sophie added, “I can’t wait for you all to see what we have cooking.”
She later elaborated on being “over the moon” about the opportunity.
Sophie recently told Net-A-Porter that her latest role was a departure from what she usually does. She explained that she doesn’t typically play strong, confident characters, often portraying people who are insecure and self-doubting. She found it a welcome change to play someone different.
Sophie’s injury is one of many recent celebrity health scares. Keep reading for more…

Nikki Bella, known from Total Bellas, shared that one of her breast implants moved after being hit during an elbow slam by fellow wrestler Piper Niven in a match that took place in July 2025.
She reassured her sister, Bella Garcia, that they would eventually get the issue resolved. She wanted to be ready for future opportunities and make sure things weren’t left in their current condition.

Lupita Nyong’o, known for her role in 12 Years a Slave, received a diagnosis of uterine fibroids—non-cancerous growths in or around the uterus—in 2014, the same year she won an Academy Award for her performance in the film.
She didn’t reveal her diagnosis until 2025, sharing on Instagram that she had been privately struggling with it for over ten years.
She explained that girls are often taught to accept period pain as a normal part of being a woman. This leaves many of us dealing with a common issue in silence and feeling isolated.

In July 2025, the actress from Daisy Jones & The Six revealed she’d been hospitalized for a hernia. This happened because she’d been wearing pants that were too tight, which caused a gap in her abdominal muscles.
Okay, so someone recently messaged me on X – you might still know it as Twitter – asking why I haven’t been posting much. It was a pretty direct question, and honestly, it prompted a story. I finally confessed that about six months ago, I wore pants that were… a little too snug. Let’s just say it resulted in a hernia, and I’ve been a bit hesitant to share that with anyone, including them! It’s a good reminder that you never really know what someone else is going through, even if their social media presence seems quiet.

The former star of Beverly Hills, 90210 shared in April 2025 that he was recovering from surgery to fix a nearly ruptured appendix.
Brian shared in an Instagram video that he recently experienced stomach pain, which led him to the emergency room. He discovered he had a perforated appendix – it hadn’t fully burst, but was very close to doing so.
He added, “I’m on the road to recovery. It’s not an easy process. This is my first major surgery.”

I was absolutely shocked when I saw Racing Louisville’s midfielder go down just minutes into their game against Seattle Reign on September 14th. It happened at Lumen Field in Seattle, and it was really scary to watch.
According to Reuters, the U.S. Women’s National Team player was seen slowly sitting down on the field with a teammate supporting her, before suddenly collapsing. Trainers were immediately called to assess her condition.
As a wellness advocate, I was relieved to hear that Savannah received immediate medical attention right on the field after the incident. The NWSL confirmed she was quickly taken to a local hospital for more thorough checks, and thankfully, she’s currently stable and fully alert. It’s always reassuring when athletes get prompt care and we hear positive updates like this.

Adam Devine revealed that he still feels the effects of injuries he suffered as a child when he was hit by a cement truck at age 11.
“It’s been incredibly difficult,” Devine shared on the In Depth With Graham Bensinger podcast in 2025. “I experience spasms throughout my body, and doctors recently told me I was facing a life-threatening situation—within the last year, actually.”
He explained that his pain is intermittent, saying his body has some minor imperfections and doesn’t always function as expected.

A former contestant on The Bachelor went to the hospital because of severe back pain. He said he was in so much pain he had to crawl on his hands and knees, and the pain got worse during a road trip with a friend.
He described a lingering tingling sensation in his knees and toes, saying it was “crazy” even weeks after the initial issue. To illustrate how significant this was, he explained that just a month prior, he was able to squat 295 pounds. Now, he can’t even do a squat or stand on one foot without falling, comparing the feeling to having had a stroke.
But with the help of a back specialist and some steroids, he added, “We’re on the mend.”

In February 2025, the former Even Stevens star revealed she was shot in the face during a birthday celebration for her husband, Brendan Rooney. They were on a trip to go clay pigeon shooting when the incident occurred.
In an Instagram post, she explained that she was accidentally shot in the face by someone at a party. They fired a gun unsafely, and the bullet hit her. Thankfully, @thebrendanrooney quickly helped, checked her over, and drove her to the hospital. She was struck five times, and one bullet narrowly missed her right eye, coming within an inch of a direct hit.
The former Kim Possible star explained that a small piece of something got stuck behind their eye. Doctors have advised against removing it with surgery right now, and they’ll be closely watching to see if anything changes. Thankfully, their vision is currently normal.
The actress expressed immense gratitude for surviving a frightening experience. She shared how much she cherishes her daughters, husband, family, and friends, explaining that she realized how precious life is. She urged everyone to hug their loved ones often, because things can change unexpectedly.

Amy Schumer is grateful for the internet, despite its often negative side, because it helped her discover a health issue. After noticing she looked “puffier,” Schumer was surprised when doctors began commenting on her appearance during interviews. They suggested she might have Cushing syndrome, possibly caused by steroid injections. This prompted Schumer to realize she had been receiving steroid injections after a breast reduction and C-section. Thanks to the online discussion, she was able to get a diagnosis. In a recent newsletter, Schumer shared that she’s relieved to learn her condition will resolve on its own and that she is healthy. She expressed that receiving this good news was the best outcome she could have hoped for.

During a December 2024 game, an AHL player suffered a skate cut that required 25 stitches. After his son made a full recovery, New Jersey Devils General Manager Tom Fitzgerald told ESPN how relieved they were, saying, “We feel very lucky, and no parent should have to go through that.”

In March 2022, Hailey Bieber experienced a frightening health scare while having breakfast with her husband, Justin Bieber. She suddenly began having stroke-like symptoms, initially unable to respond when Justin asked if she was alright. She then realized she couldn’t speak and the right side of her face started to droop.
Although her symptoms briefly subsided, Hailey went to the hospital where tests revealed she’d had a small blood clot travel to her brain, which doctors identified as a TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack).
Further testing at UCLA uncovered that Hailey has a hole in her heart, called a patent foramen ovale (PFO). Doctors determined the blood clot had passed through this hole and traveled to her brain, causing the TIA.
Hailey successfully underwent a procedure to close the PFO and is now doing well.

The same year Hailey faced a health issue, Justin also experienced one. In June 2022, he revealed he had been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, a condition that caused temporary paralysis on one side of his face. This forced him to cancel the rest of his Justice World Tour.
In a video posted to Instagram, Justin explained that the virus attacks nerves in the ear and face, preventing him from blinking, smiling, or moving his nostril on the affected side. He also shared that it was becoming increasingly difficult to eat.
Fortunately, the paralysis eventually went away. Hailey shared on Good Morning America that Justin was recovering well, adding that while the situation was frightening and unexpected, he was going to be completely fine and she was grateful he was on the mend.

Jamie Foxx recently shared details about the health scare he experienced in April 2023, which he had initially kept private. In his 2024 Netflix special, What Had Happened Was…, he explained that he suffered a severe headache one day while in Atlanta. He asked for aspirin, but lost consciousness before he could take it, and doesn’t remember the next twenty days.
He initially saw a doctor who gave him a cortisone shot and sent him home, but his sister, Deidra Dixon, was concerned and took him to the hospital. There, doctors discovered he had a brain bleed that caused a stroke.
Twenty days after surgery, on May 4th, Foxx woke up in a wheelchair unable to walk. He then went to Chicago for rehabilitation and therapy. He expressed his gratitude for the prayers he received, saying he needed them all.

The reality TV star said she temporarily stopped breathing while running a mile during the first challenge on the NBC show.
You know, I’ve spoken to a lot of people about near-death experiences, and this one really stuck with me. She shared with me on the show Fit for TV: The Reality of The Biggest Loser that her memory of that day is fragmented. She mostly remembers the sound of a helicopter, a strange feeling of floating, and then seeing her grandfather. After that, it was just darkness, followed by light. She was absolutely certain, in that moment, that she had passed away. It’s a powerful reminder of how our minds work during trauma, and how we often piece things together in a very non-linear way.
She explained that her organs were failing. She hadn’t known she had rhabdomyolysis, a condition where the body essentially starts to shut down.

Emilia Clarke, known for her role in Game of Thrones, revealed a harrowing health battle in a 2019 essay for The New Yorker. While filming the series, she experienced a sudden, severe headache while at the gym. She described becoming violently ill and realizing something was seriously wrong with her brain.
A hospital scan quickly revealed she had suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage, a life-threatening stroke caused by a ruptured aneurysm. She underwent immediate surgery to repair it, but the pain was excruciating. During her recovery, she experienced aphasia, leaving her unable to speak coherently.
Though the aphasia eventually passed and she was discharged after a month, a 2013 scan revealed the aneurysm had grown and required a second surgery. This procedure was unsuccessful, leading to a major bleed and putting her life at risk. Doctors had to perform a more invasive surgery, accessing her brain directly through her skull.
Fortunately, Emilia reports she has now made a full recovery and is doing well.

Cori Broadus, Snoop Dogg’s daughter, recently shared her gratitude for her family’s support during a difficult time. In January 2024, Cori suffered a stroke and immediately reached out to her loved ones, sending a text message and a picture to let them know what happened. She told TopMob News’ Will Marfuggi that her family quickly came to her aid.
Cori ended up staying in the hospital longer than expected due to additional health issues. While she could have gone home after the stroke, she was also dealing with problems related to lupus and kidney failure.
Fortunately, Cori is now recovering well. “I’m doing great,” she said. She’s been working to regain some motor skills, but overall, she’s doing fine.

Shailene Woodley struggled with significant health issues throughout her 20s. In a September 2024 podcast interview, she explained that she experienced hearing loss, debilitating fatigue, and severe stomach pain. She faced confusion as different doctors offered varying diagnoses. Determined to find answers, Woodley, who comes from a holistic health background and studies herbalism, sought help from both traditional doctors and alternative healers. This search for well-being lasted for ten years. The physical discomfort led to anxieties around food and ultimately triggered body image issues and a struggle with her identity. Thankfully, after years of focusing on both her physical and mental health, Woodley is now feeling much better and considers herself very healthy.
