Soulframe: The Stunning New Free RPG From Warframe Creators

Don’t discount RPGs that take inspiration from Final Fantasy. While many similar games aren’t very good, this one appears to be exceptionally well-made.

The game benefits from the support of a major publisher with a proven track record of successful free-to-play games. Plus, it’s visually stunning and easily accessible on Steam.

Soulframe Is A Gorgeous New Free RPG

Digital Extremes Is Onto Something

As a long-time Warframe player, I’m so excited to see Digital Extremes is making a new game called Soulframe! It’s a fantasy action RPG where you play as an Envoy fighting to save the world. You can already add it to your Steam wishlist, but we don’t have a firm release date yet – there have been a few tests, but that’s it. They were originally aiming for 2025, but with December almost here, I’m starting to think we might not see the full game until early 2026. Still, I can’t wait!

Digital Extremes has clearly put all their experience into making this game visually stunning, with great effects and a lot of charm. Its similarities to Warframe are actually a good thing, as the developers are known for creating balanced and enjoyable free-to-play games.

Even though the game isn’t released yet, you can buy Founder’s Packs now on the official website. These packs include cosmetic items for the characters in Soulframe, and a special weapon skin for Warframe called the Envoy’s Sphere Longsword. Plus, the price of the packs will be adjusted based on what you’ve already purchased as more content becomes available.

Digital Extremes states that Founder’s packs will be available for “many months,” and they’ll let players know before they’re removed. Currently, the Soulframe team is concentrating on the PC version, but they plan to offer Founder’s packs again when the game launches on consoles in the future.

The Final Fantasy Vibes Are Strong

Hopefully It Delivers

Okay, so as a gamer, I’m immediately getting strong The Witcher and Final Fantasy vibes from Soulframe, and that’s a huge plus, especially if you haven’t played anything by Digital Extremes before. The art style really tells you everything you need to know – think glowing magic effects on your character and a generally dark, fantastical world. It just looks cool and inviting.

Soulframe offers a refreshing change of pace from the sci-fi focus of Warframe. Fans of fantasy games will probably be eager to try it out when it releases. Based on what we’ve seen, players who enjoy games like Final Fantasy and The Witcher should find a lot to love in Soulframe.
