Compulsion Games’ action-adventure title, South of Midnight, is now available on PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2. The game, set in a gothic version of the American Deep South, originally launched on Xbox Series X/S and PC about a year ago. It received positive reviews and quickly gained over one million players, boosted by its availability on Game Pass.
If you’ve enjoyed games like We Happy Few and Contrast from the same developer, South of Midnight offers a more straightforward action-adventure experience. You play as Hazel, searching for her mother, Lacey, after a devastating flood destroys their home and town. Hazel soon discovers she has unique powers as a Weaver, and must use them to mend the Grand Tapestry.
South of Midnight takes you on a visually striking adventure through the American South, using beautiful stop-motion animation. You’ll meet a colorful cast of characters inspired by Southern folklore, some of whom you’ll have to battle as bosses. Gameplay focuses on fast-paced combat using dual hooks and magical spells. However, the game is equally centered around a heartfelt story of healing and helping others find peace.
