I remember when the first *Spaceballs* came out in 1987 – there were only three *Star Wars* films back then! Since then, the *Star Wars* universe has exploded with so much new content, especially after Disney bought Lucasfilm. And while lots of movies have tried to parody *Star Wars* over the years, there’s always only been one *Spaceballs*. But that’s about to change! *Spaceballs 2* is aiming for a 2027 release, and it’s amazing! Josh Greenbaum is directing, and they’ve brought back Mel Brooks and Rick Moranis – comedy legends! Now, the full cast has been revealed, and it feels like everything is finally falling into place for this long-awaited sequel.
Amazon MGM Studios celebrated the beginning of filming for *Spaceballs 2* by sharing a black-and-white photo of the cast and crew preparing for their first read-through of the script. The photo intentionally mirrors the initial cast photo released for *Star Wars: The Force Awakens*. Alongside Mel Brooks and Rick Moranis, the movie stars Bill Pullman, Lewis Pullman, Daphne Zuniga, Josh Gad, Keke Palmer, Anthony Carrigan, and George Wyner. You can see the photo from the table read below.
