Training camp is coming to an end—but not before one final test of character.
On November 20th, five celebrities reached the final stage of the Fox reality show, Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test. But of those five, only two managed to finish the extremely challenging competition.
Wow, day nine of the challenge was intense! I watched as Gia Giudice, Kody Brown, Brianna ‘Chickenfry’ LaPaglia, Shawn Johnson, and Andrew East were put through a really tough mock interrogation. It was designed to seriously test their mental strength after they were ‘captured’ – it was brutal to watch, honestly, but fascinating to see how they handled the pressure!
Directing staff member Jason Fox cautioned the team about the final, incredibly difficult part of the journey, saying it was a place you’d want to avoid at all costs, second only to facing death.
Foxy explained that the test involved a challenging game: interrogators trying to get information, and recruits trying to protect it while also building trust. It was a tough balance to strike.
The new recruits practiced fabricated stories to share with those who captured them, but some celebrities proved more resilient during questioning – particularly when the interrogators began using physical punishments to try and break them.
It was really disturbing to watch Kody and Brianna being put through such a stressful ordeal – they kept questioning them while dumping buckets of water on their heads. But what happened to Gia, Andrew, and Shawn was even worse. They were repeatedly held under the water, like a mock torture session, and it was incredibly upsetting to witness.
Shawn performed well, but the directors strongly criticized her husband Andrew’s performance, calling it very poor.
According to Foxy, success in this stage depends on a recruit’s ability to understand and adjust to their circumstances. Those who can’t will likely fail.
That’s when Andrew’s journey in the competition ended.
Rodolfo “Rudy” Reyes told the retired NFL player, “You didn’t use the skills and techniques we taught you during this part of the training, and that’s why you’ve failed. Please take off your armband.”
Rudy offered praise to the athlete, saying, “You’ve done incredibly well to reach this point. It’s really tough, isn’t it? Stay positive.”
Sitting in the confessional, Andrew thought about everything that had happened. He acknowledged it was an incredible experience and that he’d learned a great deal. While disappointed he wasn’t chosen, he realized he hadn’t fully grasped the circumstances. Knowing he hadn’t quit on his own, he felt good about giving it his best effort. He was confident Shawn would go all the way.

Kody’s performance during the challenge was criticized, with Foxy observing that he understands what’s required but lacks the motivation to follow through.
Once Kody was removed from the group, Rudy took his armband and told him, “You had chances to succeed, but you didn’t follow the instructions and you ultimately refused to cooperate.”
Kody described the experience as both sad and understandable. He admitted it was deeply painful to step back, but he knew it was the right thing to do. He explained that the intense stress led him to become withdrawn and stubborn. While he was glad to have reached this point, he was also disappointed he hadn’t gone further.
Only three recruits remained: Gia, Brianna, and Shawn. They were given a terrifying final challenge: to be buried alive without revealing they were part of a military training program. As Brianna lay down in the mud, she broke down and confessed to the staff, “
I lied. I’m here with Special Forces.”
Kody also faced criticism during the challenge. Foxy pointed out that he understands what’s required of him, but seems unwilling to actually follow through.

Only three recruits remained – Gia, Brianna, and Shawn – and they were about to face their toughest challenge yet: being buried alive while pretending they weren’t military trainees. As Brianna lay down in the dirt, she broke under the pressure and confessed to the staff, “I lied. I’m training with Special Forces.”

After the final 10 minutes of tryouts, Brianna was eliminated, leaving only Gia and Shawn as the successful participants from season four’s training camp.
The success was surreal for the women, especially The Real Housewives of New Jersey alum.
Gia shared in a private moment how deeply connected she felt to Shawn after successfully completing the challenging selection process. She admitted she doubted her ability to finish, but was determined to push forward not only for herself and her family, but also to prove worthy of the directing staff’s faith in her.
For Shawn, she felt like a new woman.
The experience completely changed my perspective,” the Olympic gold medalist said. “It taught me that success isn’t just about focusing on your own work—you also need to be aware of and connect with the world around you.
