For enthusiasts of the long-standing Halo franchise on Xbox, keep an eye out for the Halo World Championship 2025 as it may offer insight into the series’ future. As hinted by the Halo Studios team in their update on Halo Waypoint, they are eager to engage with fans who are uncertain about attending this year’s event, addressing recent buzz regarding the timeline for new developments.
Last year at the championship, Halo Studios revealed its rebranding from 343 Industries and unveiled a Project Foundry teaser using Unreal Engine 5, showcasing the Halo universe with cutting-edge technology. The studio has confirmed its transition to Unreal Engine 5 for future projects, moving away from the Slipspace engine that was employed in building Halo Infinite, which had succeeded the Blam! engine of the original Halo games.
If you’re keen on getting the latest news about what Halo Studios has been working on, don’t miss this year’s Halo World Championship in Seattle this October. They genuinely hope to see you there!
What projects is Halo Studios working on?
Instead of announcing their next game, Halo Studios seems to prefer discussing “multiple projects” in the pipeline. There are several intriguing possibilities to consider, such as speculation about a potential remaster or update for Halo: Combat Evolved, which aligns with the assets showcased in Project Foundry’s teaser and Phil Spencer’s statements from Microsoft Gaming CEO.
During the Xbox Games Showcase 2025, Spencer mentioned that 2026 would bring a new Fable game, the next installment of Forza, the highly anticipated Gears of War event day, and the return of an iconic title that has been part of our journey since the beginning.
It’s difficult to fathom which other timeless work by author Spencer he might be referring to, given that Halo wasn’t explicitly named.

As a tech enthusiast, if this turns out to be true, I genuinely hope it veers towards a full-blown remake instead of just a remaster. After all, Halo: Combat Evolved has already been remastered and is available to play on both Xbox and PC as part of the Master Chief Collection.
Maybe 343 Industries could learn from Capcom’s approach to Resident Evil remakes by reimagining the scenarios and level designs while maintaining the same story and tone for Halo games.
Regarding future projects, it seems reasonable to assume that another mainline game in the series is on the horizon. I would be delighted if this were a sequel to Halo Infinite rather than another soft reboot, but only time will tell.
If there are more projects underway, I hope the team isn’t hesitant to branch out into different genres. A third-person shooter that feels like Helldivers 2 set in the Halo universe would be amazing.
I would also love to see Halo Wars 3. While Halo Wars 2 didn’t sell particularly well, its story and characters were praised, even leading to the Banished faction being used in Halo Infinite.
Whatever they decide to create, I’ll definitely be watching the Halo World Championship this year with a great deal of anticipation. Halo holds a special place for me, and I hope it makes a triumphant return.
As a tech-savvy individual, I’m thrilled to share that the much-anticipated championship is set to unfold from October 24th to the 26th! You can catch all the action live on Twitch and YouTube, making it effortlessly accessible for everyone.
