
Rebellion Developments has announced that the arcade sports game Speedball will officially launch on January 27th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC through Steam, after a period in Early Access.
The Bitmap Brothers series returned with a new installment, first available on PC through Steam in Early Access on October 29, 2024.

Speedball is a modern reimagining of the classic game originally released in 1988. The game is set in a bleak future, in the year 2138, where a brutal sport is used by powerful companies to keep people from focusing on their difficult lives. Speedball is a high-octane competition featuring two teams of cybernetically enhanced players pushing the boundaries of speed and aggression. Expect fast, chaotic matches where skillful passing, teamwork, and shooting are key to victory.

Early Access Updates
Since its release into Early Access in October 2024, Rebellion has consistently updated and improved Speedball, significantly changing the game with new features and content. Here’s a look at what’s been added:
- New League Mode, which sees 10 teams compete over a season to be crowned champions.
- Tutorial system to help new players get up to speed.
- Added new Brutal versions of arenas, alongside their Standard variants.
- Improved visuals, including upgraded VFX on high impact collisions.
- Improved shooting system to allow for better shot placement.
- Enhanced gameplay mechanics, including speed, goalkeeping and AI.
- Eight new arenas added to the roster.
- Dynamic arena traps and obstacles, including flamethrowers, ice shotguns, grind rails and more have been added.
- New armor sets and color styles.
