When Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse comes out in 2027, it will be unique compared to the previous two films in the series.
What’s the big Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse update?
Writer Christopher Miller recently responded to a fan question on social media about the IMAX version of ‘Beyond the Spider-Verse.’ The fan wanted to know if the movie would fully utilize the expanded aspect ratio available in IMAX.
I was so thrilled to hear Miller confirm they’re absolutely doing something special with how the film will look! They just said “heck yeah we will” when asked, which is amazing. While it’s not totally clear if the whole movie will be in the full IMAX expanded aspect ratio – filmmakers have mixed things up before – it definitely sounds like Miller is committed to giving this Spider-Man film the best possible presentation. It’s clear they’re going all out to make it a truly immersive experience, and I can’t wait!
The highly anticipated sequel, Beyond the Spider-Verse, is now scheduled to release on June 18, 2027 – over four years after the previous film, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, which came out in 2023. Originally, the movie was supposed to be released in March 2024, but production delays caused by the writers’ and actors’ strikes forced Sony to postpone it.
Originally, the movie was expected to come out this year after a slight setback. But according to Jeff Sneider of The InSneider, reporting in September 2024, production issues and other Spider-Man projects have now pushed the release date back to 2027.
You can now watch the Spider-Man animated movies online! The first film, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, is streaming on Fubo and FXNOW. The sequel, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, is available on Disney+ and Fubo.
