In the film “Spider-Man: Fresh Start,” Spidey’s new suit breaks away from the Iron Man aesthetic that has characterized Peter Parker in the Marvel Cinematic Universe up until now, and this change could potentially impact films like “Avengers: Doomsday ” and/or “Avengers: Secret Wars“. With the release of official set videos, costume designs, and numerous unauthorized set photos, there has been an abundance of images of Spider-Man that would make even J. Jonah Jameson happy. Although no significant plot points have been disclosed (as of yet), these images provide a glimpse into what we can expect from the movie, hinting at its commitment to delivering on the promise of a gritty, street-level Spider-Man adventure.
The latest Spider-Man costume, despite being called “new,” seems to be a continuation of the one we saw in the ending of “Spider-Man: No Way Home.” Upon closer inspection, this appears to be an updated version with minor modifications. It’s plausible that the suit was not originally designed for that film, but rather created digitally. Now that it’s physically worn by Tom Holland, there might be slight alterations in its color and design. However, among Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spider-Man costumes, this one stands out as one of the best. What sets it apart is not just its fresh look, but also how it pays homage to the suits from previous iterations of the character.
Spider-Man Is Moving On From Iron Man In Brand New Day

In the upcoming movie, “Spider-Man: Fresh Start,” it’s confirmed that Peter Parker won’t be using a suit designed by Tony Stark or incorporating any Stark technology. This means that, if this continues throughout the film, it will mark Spidey’s initial appearance in the MCU where he doesn’t have a suit linked to Stark in some way. Instead, we see Peter crafting the suit himself in the closing moments of “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” which represents more than just his current situation where the world has forgotten him; it symbolizes his future journey ahead.
In simpler terms, the suit symbolizes more than just what Peter has lost due to Doctor Strange’s spell; it signifies his need to develop his own identity independently from Tony Stark. Throughout his time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Tom Holland’s Spider-Man has often been characterized by his mentor relationship with Iron Man, sometimes even appearing more like a younger version of Tony than Peter. This association not only provided him with some enhancements (although his powers are already quite powerful), but it also prevented us from seeing much of the traditional neighborhood Spider-Man that we’re familiar with.
Peter will always remember Tony, as well as the kindness he showed him. However, this indicates that he’s found a measure of tranquility regarding the past events, allowing him to progress. He can honor Iron Man’s legacy by becoming an exceptional superhero, yet what truly matters is that he also becomes his own hero.
RDJ As Doom Must Have A Major Impact On Spider-Man

It’s great that Peter will no longer be solely identified as Iron Man, but the timing of his acceptance into new roles is quite unfortunate. While Tony Stark might not return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (though there’s always a chance), someone who resembles him will appear soon – and they’ll pose the biggest threat yet to the multiverse. Holland hasn’t officially been cast for “Doomsday,” likely because it’s being filmed at the same time as “Brand New Day” (with speculation they could overlap in the universe). However, it seems probable that he’ll have a part, and if not in this movie, then undoubtedly in “Secret Wars.
In this scenario, it’s implied that Spider-Man will encounter Doctor Doom, portrayed by Robert Downey Jr. This encounter is likely to include a revelation where Peter recognizes the face of his former hero and mentor, who has now become the greatest villain he’s faced since Thanos. Not only will Peter have to contend with this new threat, but also the emotional shock of seeing his former friend and father figure in such a twisted form. This reunion is likely to stir up past trauma and pain for Peter, making Downey Jr’s return as Doom a challenging yet potentially powerful moment in the storyline.
Even Doom might exploit this situation. Whether Tony Stark is secretly Victor von Doom or not, having Iron Man’s face could work to his advantage. Like with Spider-Man, it could confuse the heroes and give him an edge when they doubt or hesitate. Given Doom’s exceptional intelligence, it’s likely he’ll discover this connection and figure out how to use it effectively. Unfortunately for Spider-Man, this could lead to some uncomfortable situations.
Spider-Man: A Fresh Start will hit the screens on July 31st, 2026. The much-anticipated movie Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled for release on December 18th, 2026. This will be followed by another Avengers film titled Avengers: Secret Wars, which is set to premiere on December 17th, 2027.
