The first trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day broke records, becoming the most-viewed trailer ever in its first 24 hours. According to WaveMetrix, it garnered an incredible 718.6 million views after Sony Pictures released it on March 18, 2026, following a series of online teasers. This surpassed the previous record held by Deadpool & Wolverine, which had 373 million views in 24 hours back in 2024.
The trailer for the new Spider-Man movie, Brand New Day, quickly became a massive hit, racking up almost twice as many views as the Deadpool & Wolverine trailer. It broke previous records, surpassing the 24-hour view count of 475 million set by the Grand Theft Auto VI trailer – which was previously considered the biggest video game trailer launch ever. For comparison, the first trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home – a film that eventually earned $1.9 billion worldwide – received 355.5 million views in its first 24 hours.
The enthusiastic reception to Spider-Man: Brand New Day highlights both the enduring popularity of Spider-Man and Tom Holland’s successful portrayal of the character. This film marks ten years since Holland first appeared as Peter Parker in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Captain America: Civil War, and it’s the first time audiences have seen his Spider-Man on screen in almost five years, following Spider-Man: No Way Home. Over the past decade and through seven movies, Tom Holland has become the longest-running actor to play Spider-Man.
While trailer views don’t always guarantee box office success, the strong views for Spider-Man: Brand New Day are encouraging. This new Spider-Man film is set to compete with several other big releases in the summer of 2026, including The Mandalorian & Grogu, Toy Story 5, Supergirl, Mortal Kombat 2, and a live-action Moana. Considering the previous two Spider-Man movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe each earned over $1 billion, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is expected to be the summer’s biggest hit.
The main competition for the new Spider-Man: Brand New Day movie is The Odyssey. The Odyssey is releasing two weeks earlier and has secured IMAX screens for three weeks, meaning Spider-Man: Brand New Day won’t be available in IMAX during its opening weekend. However, based on trailer views, this shouldn’t significantly affect Spider-Man: Brand New Day‘s box office performance.

Recent Marvel movies like The Marvels, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and Captain America: Brave New World haven’t performed as well as expected, leading to questions about the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, strong fan reactions to things like the trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day and the livestream event for Avengers: Doomsday – which reached 275 million viewers – show that Marvel still has a huge following. The four teasers for Avengers: Doomsday have also been incredibly popular, racking up a total of 1 billion views.
