Some new plans about Spider-Man’s MCU future have reportedly been revealed.
Next summer, Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures are releasing Spider-Man 4, currently titled Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The film will star Tom Holland returning as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, and Jon Bernthal will once again play Frank Castle/The Punisher. Destin Daniel Cretton, who directed Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, is directing the movie.
We don’t yet know what’s next for Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While many believe he’ll appear in either Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars, Marvel hasn’t officially confirmed his involvement in either film.
What is the new Spider-Man MCU update?
A reporter for The Cosmic Circus asked if future Spider-Man movies starring Tom Holland might feature new versions of villains like Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus, separate from the ones played by Willem Dafoe and Alfred Molina in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Perez confirmed that the storyline in the ‘Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man’ comic will closely reflect the direction of Spider-Man’s story in the main Marvel Cinematic Universe. While it won’t be an exact copy, key plot points will be similar – much like how the ‘What If…?’ series draws parallels to events in the MCU.
Currently, this is just speculation. There haven’t been any official announcements about future plans for Spider-Man after the ‘Brand New Day’ storyline.
There’s a lot of talk about Miles Morales joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, particularly because he’s central to the ‘Secret Wars’ comic book arc. While a story involving Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus is possible, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige has suggested they’ll wait until Sony completes its animated Spider-Verse films before introducing Miles.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day arrives on July 31, 2026.
