Spider-Man’s Guardians of the Galaxy Reveal His Biggest Strength

Spider-Man has been through a lot lately. After a brutal fight with Hellgate, he was left for dead on another planet. Luckily, a scientist named Xantos saved him, but Spider-Man soon discovered Xantos was holding people captive and using them for dangerous experiments. After freeing those captured, Spider-Man got a high-tech new suit and decided to form his own team of heroes, inspired by the Guardians of the Galaxy – and he even managed to recruit Rocket Raccoon! Traveling through space with this unusual group, Spider-Man discovered what he’s truly best at.

Throughout Spider-Man’s adventures in space, he’s been driven by a need to become more powerful. After the traumatic events of Hellgate, where he was threatened with destruction upon returning to Earth, Peter Parker has relentlessly pursued new abilities – from utilizing his advanced suit to participating in Xantos’s experiments. However, his team ultimately showed him that his true strength isn’t power, but his compassion and the connections he has with those around him. As demonstrated in Amazing Spider-Man (2025) #19, Spider-Man’s greatest asset is his heart, and his team thrives because of it.

The Power to Handle Responsibility

The trouble began when Rocket reviewed the plan to bring Spider-Man home. With the universe still recovering from the aftermath of Imperial, the team needed to seize control of a stargate. They briefly celebrated their near-success with a lot of drinking. Peter then had a heartfelt conversation with Raelith, promising to support each other, before quietly leaving with Xantos. The villainous scientist had finally completed a device that could rewrite Spider-Man’s DNA, making him much more powerful. Surprisingly, Xantos asked Peter not to use it, fearing it would change his personality. Despite being evil, Xantos valued Peter and didn’t want to lose who he was.

Ignoring Xantos’s advice, Spider-Man took the re-coder and left secretly. He anticipated a confrontation with Hellgate at the stargate and wanted to protect others. Glitch persuaded him that if he was determined to risk his life, he should wear his Technarch suit. Saying what felt like a final farewell, Spider-Man sped towards the stargate, only to find all the battling groups had been wiped out, with Hellgate and Nikodimu waiting for him.

Spider-Man initially tried to reason with Hellgate, bravely offering to mentor him in protecting people. But Hellgate dismissed Spider-Man, viewing him as too weak. When they fought again, Hellgate’s powerful attacks and ability to create portals immediately put Spider-Man on the defensive. Just as Spider-Man was about to use a special device, his team arrived, giving him a difficult choice: continue fighting Hellgate to the death or follow their plan and be rescued. Spider-Man chose to trust his friends, escaping with their help and even using a ship as a distraction against Hellgate. This showed that Spider-Man’s greatest strength wasn’t his superpowers, but his compassion and willingness to rely on others.

The Strength to Be Kind

When Spider-Man joined his new team, everyone was struggling – both physically and emotionally. They were trapped by their circumstances and focused solely on their own problems, acting selfishly and without regard for others. However, Spider-Man’s arrival began to change things. Even when he could have prioritized his own goals and become more powerful, he consistently stayed true to his values. He repeatedly put others first, whether it was saving Xantos, reuniting kidnapped people with their families, or even giving up his new suit to help Glitch. Peter consistently sacrificed his own needs for the well-being of others.

Spider-Man didn’t realize it, but he deeply affected those around him. Rocket started to trust again, Raelith allowed herself to be vulnerable, and Xantos learned to respect others. Even Glitch, who had given up on life, began to hope again after connecting with Peter’s mind. Peter always strived to be stronger, unaware that simply being himself – open and honest – was making a positive difference in everyone’s lives. He survived the dangers of Hellgate not because of his powers, but because his friends stood with him, just as he always stood with others. Spider-Man’s true strength lies in his selfless actions, and that strength saved him again. It will be what saves the day next time he faces Hellgate.
