Spider-Man’s world has expanded beyond New York City – he’s now battling cosmic villains! In a major change, he’s become a galactic hero and formed his own team to restore order to a troubled universe. Following his victory over the alien scientist Xanto and the liberation of his prisoners, *The Amazing Spider-Man* #13 showcased this new team in action, proving they’re even more powerful than the Guardians of the Galaxy as seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Following a devastating defeat by the villain Hellgate, Spider-Man is determined to become more powerful. He started by defeating Xanto on his own, using a transformed but inactive Technarch as the basis for a remarkably strong new suit. Helping him were a diverse team: teammates controlled by explosive devices, a fierce warrior named Raelith, the pilot Nial, a dog-like symbiote called Symbie, and even Rocket Raccoon, a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy. This new team has already demonstrated they’re more powerful than the Guardians we know from the movies, and here’s the evidence.
A Team Built to Span the Galaxy
Let’s compare Spider-Man’s team to the original Guardians of the Galaxy, member by member. If we’re being fair, both Rockets are roughly equal in skill, though the comic book version of Rocket is demonstrably more intelligent and a better fighter. When it comes to raw strength, Raelith and Xanto clearly surpass Drax and Gamora. Raelith effortlessly destroyed tanks with just a kick – something neither of the Guardians could do. And Xanto has shown a similar level of strength in past fights with the X-Men, even shrugging off artillery blasts like they were nothing.
Nial didn’t participate in the battle itself, focusing instead on directing the team from the ship, which suggests he’s skilled with technology. However, he won’t directly increase the team’s fighting strength. Groot is currently the most powerful and adaptable Guardian, but the symbiote, Symbie, could prove to be a serious opponent. While we don’t yet know the full extent of Symbie’s abilities, other members of its species, like Venom and his offspring, have been known to dramatically boost their hosts’ power.
The last two members are both Peters. While Star-Lord *could* have been incredibly powerful by merging with Ego, he chose not to, so that ability won’t be considered. Without it, he’s essentially an ordinary person with advanced weaponry. Spider-Man, on the other hand, is already strong enough to fight characters like Iron Man and Wolverine, and his new Technarch suit makes him even more powerful – boosting his strength and speed, and giving him controllable tendrils. He showed off these abilities in a fight that clearly demonstrated which team is superior.
Battle With Black-Dwarf
As Spider-Man’s team tried to land on Gaileia 3, they faced a tough battle – not only were they swarmed by guards, but they also had to confront Black Dwarf, one of Thanos’s most powerful warriors. Seeing Black Dwarf, everyone on the team except Spider-Man immediately gave up. Black Dwarf is incredibly strong – the strongest of Thanos’s elite soldiers – with skin that can’t be broken and the power to fight multiple powerful opponents like Ronan, Super-Skrull, and Annihilus simultaneously. But Spider-Man didn’t back down and immediately charged into battle.
Peter easily dodged all of Black Dwarf’s attacks and quickly defeated him, needing only a small distraction from Symbie. Using his techno-organic tendrils and Raelith’s spear, Spider-Man shocked Black Dwarf into unconsciousness. Everyone expected a loss, but Spider-Man won with surprising ease. Given how strong Black Dwarf is in the comics, it’s hard to believe even the entire movie Guardians of the Galaxy team could win, and they’d certainly have a much tougher fight.
This fight clearly shows Spider-Man’s team is more powerful than the original Guardians of the Galaxy from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Spider-Man is determined to reach his full potential, and given his current strength, this team has the potential to become a major cosmic force in the Marvel Universe. What are your thoughts?
