Spider-Verse vs. Venomverse: New Heroes Emerge in Epic Battle

Marvel is preparing a grand multiversal clash titled “Spider-Verse vs. Venomverse“. Following the events of “End of the Spider-Verse” in 2022 and “Venomverse Reborn” in 2024, this epic confrontation pits Spiders against Symbiotes. This sprawling series, written by Mat Groom, known for his work on “Ultraman X The Avengers”, and Kyle Higgins, renowned for his work on “Winter Soldier”, features art by Luciano Vecchio, who has previously worked on “Venom War: Venomous”. This storyline expands the ongoing narratives of both the Spider-Verse and the Venomverse as the characters from the Web of Life and Destiny and the Symbiote Hive-Mind come together to determine the outcomes for their respective realities.

The battle among spiders, titled “Arachnid War,” will kick off with a pair of initial installments. In March, the debut issue of Web of Spider-Verse: New Blood will be released, featuring three new characters: Spider-Prowler, a new version of Spider-Hulk, and Count Parker, who has vampiric traits. This storyline is crafted by writers Groom, Greg Pak (known for Sam Wilson: Captain America), Chris Eliopoulos (renowned for Power Pack), Jordan Morris (Youth Group), and others. The artwork will be handled by Sumit Kumar (from Spider-Man: Black Suit & Blood), Alan Robinson (Spider-Man Unlimited Infinity Comic), Eliopoulos, and Vecchio.

In the first-person perspective of a passionate movie buff, I’d say: “I can’t wait to dive into April’s ‘Web of Venomverse: Fresh Brains’ #1! This exciting comic introduces a fresh take on Eddie Brock’s Venom, who you might recognize from his upcoming Carnage debut in ‘Eddie Brock: Carnage’ in February. Alongside this new Venom, we have Venomouse and a venomized Katie Power of Power Pack! This one-shot is crafted by the talented team of Groom, Eliopoulos, Erica Schultz (from ‘Daredevil: Woman Without Fear’), and David Dastmalchian, who’s not only Marvel’s Ant-Man actor but also the writer of ‘Count Crowley’. The artwork is handled by Vecchio, Eliopoulos, Chris Allen (‘Black Panther’), Dylan Burnett (‘X-Force’), and Juan José Ryp (‘Venom War: Zombiotes’).

starting in May, the epic battle between the Spider-Verse and the Venomverse begins with issue number one of their five-part series, which is an extension from the Web of Spider-Verse and the Web of Venomverse. Readers can look forward to seeing characters like Peter Parker’s Spider-Man, Spider-Ham (Peter Porker), Weapon VIII who was introduced in 2024’s Edge of Spider-Verse issue number one, Agent Venom, and many others.

Dan Slott and Olivier Copiel initiated the Spider-Verse in 2014, which dramatically reshaped the Spider-Man universe and dominated globally. This pivotal moment served as the foundation for series like 2017’s Venomverse, 2018’s Spider-Geddon, and the animated Spider-Verse movies. According to Groom, subsequent creators such as Donny Cates, Al Ewing, and Ram V have since significantly altered the Venom universe in a manner that is compellingly important and transformative.

Groom went on to say, “Colliding these realms is an incredible honor and a chance – it allows us to test both sides to their limits, so we can find out if the Spider and Symbiote societies stand firm amidst the approaching turmoil… or if they succumb under the strain!

Artist Luciano Vecchio, known for his work on the comics “Edge of Spider-Verse”, “Black Widow: Venomous”, and the “Spider-Man” series written by Slott, additionally functions as a character designer for the two prequel titles. As Groom stated, “Luciano’s unique skill lies in weaving intricate patterns of interconnected characters and realms… It’s thrilling that readers will have an initial glimpse of this in ‘New Blood’ and ‘Fresh Brains’.

The multidimensional battle known as the Multiverse War commences in “WEB OF SPIDER-VERSE: NEW BLOOD” #1.
