Musical biopics have become increasingly common recently, with films about Amy Winehouse, Bob Marley, and Bob Dylan released just this year. Now, a trailer has arrived for a new one about Bruce Springsteen, titled ‘Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere’.
“Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere,” a film from 20th Century Studios, tells the story behind the making of Bruce Springsteen’s 1982 album, “Nebraska.” The film focuses on a young Springsteen, just beginning to achieve worldwide fame, and his internal struggle to balance his rising success with his personal history. Recorded simply on a 4-track recorder in his New Jersey bedroom, “Nebraska” was a turning point in his career and remains a powerful, emotionally charged album featuring characters searching for hope.
Director Scott Cooper, who adapted Warren Zanes’ book “Deliver Me from Nowhere” into the film’s screenplay, described making the movie about Bruce Springsteen as a profoundly emotional experience. He felt he was able to understand the artist on a deep level, witnessing both his sensitivity and power. Cooper likened the process to exploring memory, legend, and reality, and said translating Springsteen’s honest emotions to the screen was a privilege that personally affected him. He expressed his gratitude to both Springsteen and Jon Landau for trusting him with their story.
The upcoming film, starring Jeremy Allen White as Bruce Springsteen, is written and directed by Scott Cooper, adapting Warren Zanes’ book, “Deliver Me from Nowhere.” The cast also includes Jeremy Strong as Springsteen’s manager Jon Landau, Paul Walter Hauser as guitar tech Mike Batlan, Stephen Graham as Springsteen’s father Doug, Odessa Young as his love interest Faye, Gaby Hoffman as his mother Adele, Marc Maron as Chuck Plotkin, and David Krumholtz as Columbia executive Al Teller.
The film arrives in cinemas on 24th October 2025.
