If you’ve been wondering about the progress of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake project at Square Enix, you’ll be happy to hear from the game’s director, Naoki Hamaguchi, who recently shared an update on Twitter.
During the recent Partner Showcase, Hamaguchi revealed that Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will be released on the Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox. He also hinted at more updates coming soon, suggesting an end to the quiet period surrounding the development of the eagerly awaited sequel to Rebirth.
We’re excited to share lots more news about the Final Fantasy 7 Remake project this year, and we can’t wait to celebrate with fans worldwide!
With Rebirth launching on Switch 2 and Xbox on June 3, 2026, we might hear news about Part 3 later in 2024. However, since Hamaguchi hasn’t given a specific timeframe, the timing of that update is still uncertain.
Fans are anxious for updates after the last game’s dramatic ending, and we might finally get some news – possibly even the game’s title! While Rebirth set a high bar, Square Enix seems confident this new installment will be just as good, and even Hamaguchi himself is optimistic.
