A role-playing game originally released for the Super Nintendo in 1993 has quietly launched on Xbox Series X, over three decades later. While a remastered version appeared on Xbox One in 2017 and was playable on current Xbox consoles through backward compatibility, this new release is a full remake built specifically for Xbox Series X and S.
If you’re looking for the original 1993 version of this RPG, you might find this new release different. This is a 2024 remake of *Romancing SaGa 2*, originally a 2D game, and it’s now available on Xbox Series X after launching on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4 last year, and Nintendo Switch 2 this year. The game is called *Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven*.
About the Game
Square Enix has quietly released a new stealth game for Xbox Series X and Series S, priced at $49.99. It’s currently on sale for $34.99. If you’re unsure, you can try a free demo from the Microsoft Store, and any progress you make in the demo will transfer to the full game if you decide to buy it.
Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven is a complete 3D remake of the fifth main game in the SaGa series. Players take on the role of the Emperor of Avalon, defending the kingdom from seven powerful heroes and their armies of monsters. What sets this game – and the SaGa series – apart is its focus on multiple generations of characters and a story that unfolds over time.
If you’re curious about the *SaGa* series, this game isn’t necessarily the highest-rated, but it’s the most well-known of the older titles. Because of this, it’s a great place to start, even though it’s actually the fifth game in the series.
If this new throwback from Square Enix isn’t really doing it for me, the awesome news is they might be bringing back *Drakengard* soon, which I’ve been hoping for!
