Square Enix will reveal a new *Final Fantasy* game on October 14th. They’ve already hinted at the announcement and even shared a link to the game’s reveal trailer on YouTube. However, fans expecting *Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3* or *Final Fantasy 17*, or a major installment like that, will likely be disappointed, as that’s not what’s being announced in the next couple of days.
Square Enix is reportedly developing both of these games, and they recently hinted at a remake of *Final Fantasy 6* for fans. However, before that happens, a new *Dissidia Final Fantasy* game will be revealed for iOS and Android on October 14th at 6:00 AM Eastern Time.
Teaser Site With Media
Before the official announcement, Square Enix put up a teaser website featuring images likely from the game or its trailer. However, these images don’t give us much information without knowing what we’re looking at. The website does hint that the game will focus on team-based boss battles.

It’s Been A While
It’s been a while since a new *Dissidia Final Fantasy* game was released. The last one, *Dissidia Final Fantasy NT*, came out in 2018 for PC and PlayStation 4. Before that, *Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy* was on the PSP in 2011, and the original *Dissidia Final Fantasy* debuted on the PSP in 2008, marking the start of this unique series. *Dissidia* is a fighting game that brings together iconic characters from across the entire *Final Fantasy* universe.
It’s not surprising that some Final Fantasy fans are happy to see this series return, but others are disappointed it’s only available on mobile devices.
One fan commented that Square Enix needs to pay more attention to what players want. They specifically expressed a desire for a remastered version of the original game or *012*, or a new console game that maintains the existing gameplay systems, rather than a mobile game.
We’re not sure what this new game is, but the mention of a “Team Boss Battle” hints it might involve players fighting against computer-controlled enemies (PvE) or even each other (PvP). It’s just a guess for now! Luckily, Final Fantasy fans won’t have to wait long to find out more. Let us know your thoughts in the comments, or join the discussion on the ComicBook Forum!
