*Warning: spoilers for Squid Game: The Challenge ahead.*
The first four episodes of Squid Game: The Challenge ended with a dramatic cliffhanger. Players revolted during a particularly intense game, leaving viewers on the edge of their seats.
The players learned they were playing a game called Mingle during the final challenge of episode 4. Mingle was originally featured in the show’s second season.
The game takes place on a spinning carousel with doors all around it. When the carousel stops, a number is announced, and players have to quickly form a group with exactly that many people and go into the next room.
Players will be removed from the game if they can’t join a room, or if a room they’re in doesn’t have the correct number of players.

As players were knocked out of the game, the atmosphere grew more intense. Eventually, the remaining players united and decided to fight back against the game itself.
“We’re not playing,” player 098 says before another adds: “Nobody play. Nobody play.”
The players formed a circle, holding hands, then heard over the intercom that they would be working in pairs. With some hesitation, they partnered up, not knowing a marble game would determine their outcome.
The Front Man announced to the players, “You’ve decided to leave the game. As a thank you for your bravery, please accept this as a gift.”
Once the players found out what game they’d be playing, they quickly discovered the group would be divided into two teams.

To capture all the exciting moments, you need to be ready to find the drama wherever it happens,” explained Anna Kidd, an executive games producer, to Tudum.
As a huge fan, it was incredible seeing the setup – they had 90 cameras rolling constantly, ready to capture anything that happened! It’s funny, everyone comes in with these strategies and alliances, but the second the pressure is on, it all goes out the window. You really saw that happen with the players; they’d clearly formed strong bonds and real friendships, but when it came down to it, self-preservation took over. It was wild to watch!
In the end, everyone has to look out for themselves. If you need to sacrifice your relationships to survive, you have to make that tough call quickly.
