STALKER 2 Engine Rework Coming
Game developer GSC Game World announces an upcoming engine upgrade for STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl, moving the game to Unreal Engine 5.5.4. This improvement aims to enhance optimization even more. Alongside this update, they’re introducing ‘phase two’ of the Zone Kit, which offers advanced audio and storytelling tools for improved modding capabilities.
Beyond that, stacks of changes are coming to STALKER 2 with the 2025 roadmap:

- New missions ‘from old and new friends’
- New weather scenario
- Master difficulty preset
- Extended day/night cycle
- Stashes loot rework
- Stamina and energy drinks rework
- Immersive display mode

STALKER 2 PS5 Launch Coming Soon
This year, the highly-anticipated game STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl is expected to be available on both PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro. The version for PlayStation 5 Pro will offer additional improvements and optimizations, taking advantage of the powerful processing capabilities of Sony’s premium console model.
Currently, the game is slated for launch on PlayStation 5 by the end of Q4 2025, which means it’ll be released soon. It’s anticipated that the specific release date will be announced at the Opening Night Live ceremony during Gamescom, considering that the game is playable on the PS5 Pro version at this event.
In simpler terms, the developers of STALKER 2 indicated that certain mission goals might need to be rescheduled beyond 2025 if there are issues or instability within the game’s environment.
