Today, GSC Gameworld unveiled that Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl is set to launch on PlayStation 5 towards the end of this year. This much-anticipated installment in the popular action series has been accessible only on PC and Xbox since its debut last November. At present, we don’t have a specific release date for the PS5 edition; however, it has been confirmed that it will also be offered as an enhanced version for PlayStation 5 Pro users.
Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl will come to PS5 later this year
In the intriguing preview for Stalker 2, characters within the game were seen playing Stalker 2 on a PlayStation console. To make sure his soldiers, who seemed to be transforming into zombies, could take their turn, the Colonel was tricked into checking on them by the first-person perspective of the player. Although it would have been advantageous to display some gameplay earlier, this creative approach is commendable. As per the trailer, Stalker 2 is slated for a PlayStation release in late 2025.

It may not appear as a major development at first glance, but the fact that Stalker 2 isn’t an exclusive Xbox game might lead to a substantial increase in sales. Many games initially released as exclusives for the Xbox console have found success on PlayStation, with titles like Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and Forza Horizon 5 recently dominating the sales charts on the PlayStation Store. Therefore, if Stalker 2 becomes accessible to a broader base of console players, it could potentially experience a significant sales surge.
Feedback on the YouTube preview tends to be encouraging and enthusiastic regarding the announcement. One viewer posted, “Greetings PlayStation community, here’s a tip: Save as much ammo and money as you can…” Other players also offered advice in their comments. Additionally, some users expressed that using mods provides their preferred gaming experience, but the developers of Stalker 2 have hinted at bringing mod support to both consoles and PC platforms.
It’s plausible that the PlayStation 5 version of this game, though not officially confirmed, might be released in November 2025 since console-exclusive games usually have a one-year exclusivity period and the trailer only mentions “late 2025.” However, for now, we can only guess. More details will be revealed over time.
