GSC Game World has revealed that Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl is set to arrive on PlayStation 5, marking the end of its console exclusivity on Xbox. No specific release date has been disclosed yet, but gamers can expect it in late 2025. If you’re interested, you can add it to your wishlist now.
In an unusual, self-referential preview video, using game graphics, soldiers gather around a colonel who seems relaxed, controlling what looks like Stalker 2 on a TV with a device similar to a PlayStation controller. Later, it’s made clear this is indeed a PlayStation-like controller.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that the PS5 version of this upcoming game is set to take advantage of the DualSense controller’s unique features, such as haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, for an even more immersive gaming experience. Plus, it’s been confirmed to have technical enhancements tailored specifically for the PS5 Pro, though specifics are still under wraps.
In the meantime, before further details emerge and its launch date is announced, feel free to check out our documentary on Stalker 2, which sheds light on the personal experiences of the developers during Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Initially released as an exclusive for Xbox consoles last November, Stalker 2 was initially suggested to only be a temporary exclusive for three months according to leaked papers. However, the extended delay might be due to the game’s buggy initial release, as it encountered numerous problems following a day-one update, and its first major patch addressed over 1,800 bugs in the post-apocalyptic shooter.
In 2025, we’ve seen more first-party Xbox exclusives being made available on other platforms, such as PlayStation and Nintendo Switch, following the confirmation by Microsoft’s Phil Spencer last year that four titles would be ported. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, originally launched in December 2024, is now playable on these platforms, while Gears of War: Reloaded will debut simultaneously on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC in August.
