STALKER 2 Update 1.008 Adds “Stories Untold” Content for Free

GSC Game World is ending 2025 strongly with a new update for STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl called “Stories Untold.”

The latest free update for STALKER 2, version 1.008, brings over five hours of new content to console players. This includes new storylines, locations, and gameplay experiences.

NEW STORIES

We’ve added more than five hours of gameplay, depending on how you play. Uncover the source of a strange transmission that’s causing stalkers to experience headaches, nosebleeds, and even hallucinations.

As you play, you’ll get to decide whether to assist the stalkers and scientists in uncovering the truth. You’ll make choices, fight for your ideals, and search for answers along the way.

You’ll be able to receive a special message on your PDA anywhere in the game world, but it’s most likely to appear near the Burnt Forest. Your choices regarding this message will impact the lives of other stalkers you encounter. This mission unlocks after you leave the Zalissya area early in the game.

The game now features an expanded storyline with 8 fresh missions, 7 new places to explore, 6 new characters to meet, 3 special items, and a one-of-a-kind weapon, plus other exciting additions.

NEW LOCATIONS & NEW HUB

I’m really excited about the new locations they’re adding! It sounds like if I dig into the new stories, I’ll be able to explore places that were previously just filled with scrap metal or monsters – now other stalkers are using them too. Apparently, the story could even let me build a whole new base in the Burnt Forest, which is awesome! That area would definitely become a hotspot for other stalkers if I do that, making things more lively. Though, it’s not guaranteed – I guess I have choices to make about how I want to play, and I might go a different route.

NEW WEAPON

The GP37V2 is an upgraded version of the GP37 rifle designed for experienced players. It comes with a built-in silencer and a scope for slightly zoomed-in aiming. It’s been adjusted to fire in single shots or short bursts only.

While mistakes can be costly, an experienced user will find the GP37V2 to be a precise and powerful tool. You can obtain it by finishing a specific quest.

MASTER DIFFICULTY AND EXPEDITION MODE SIMPLIFICATION

This update makes saving your game easier if you choose to play on Master difficulty or with Expedition mode turned on.

Once you begin a new game on Master difficulty or with Expedition mode turned on, you’ll find an option in the settings to activate Manual Saving. Turn this on, and you’ll be able to save your progress whenever you like for the rest of that game.

If you turn on these save features, the progress bar shown in the Pause menu will update to reflect your achievements.

ADDITIONAL FIXES

Fixed an issue where multiple artifacts could spawn in one place.
Optimized multiple mutant models.
Fixed an issue where NPC could not find a way to the shelter during an Emission at the Cement Factory location.
Fixed an issue where NPC could not find a way to the shelter during an Emission in Zalissya.
Fixed an issue that could cause massive mutant hordes to spawn at the Plant location of the Garbage region.
Adjusted dead zone settings for DualSense controller on PC.
Fixed an issue where the player could obtain the Heart of Chornobyl artifact from the regular anomalies.

We’re hoping this is the final update for the game this year, but we anticipate releasing a small fix soon to address any problems that might appear with all the new content.
