A new story is coming to STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl just over a year after the game was released.
In total, the free update will include the following:
- 8 new quests for questing
- 7 new locations for exploring
- 6 new characters for meeting

As for what we can expect from the new story, developer GSC Game World did give us a tease.
Okay, so things are getting seriously weird out by the Malachite, way over on the west side of the Zone. The scientists sent teams to check it out, but they started getting interference on their PDAs – like a messed-up signal. And it’s not just static! Anyone who listened to it – us stalkers included – started getting hit with killer headaches, nosebleeds, and even seeing things that weren’t there. It’s definitely not a place you want to hang around for long.
Professor Medulin saw everything happen firsthand. Although he was a skilled researcher, he lacked the knowledge to interpret the radio signal and understand the situation. That’s when Banzai, a radio hobbyist, got involved to help investigate, but things didn’t go as planned.
STALKER 2’s Update Also Includes A New Weapon: The GPS7V2
In addition to new story elements, the next update for STALKER 2 will also introduce a new weapon for players to use.
The GP37V2 is an improved version of the already powerful GP37 rifle. It comes with a built-in silencer, a scope for easier aiming, and a trigger that lets you choose between firing single shots or short bursts.
It may have a higher failure rate, but those who master the GP37V2 will be handsomely rewarded.
STALKER 2, a surprisingly enjoyable game released on PlayStation 5 in 2024, has brought a unique post-apocalyptic experience to a wider audience. Now that initial performance problems have been fixed, it’s great to see the developers, GSC, continuing to add new content.
The new update for STALKER 2 will be available on all platforms starting December 16th. At the same time, the game will be 40% off on the Xbox store, with the sale running from today until January 7th. Currently, the discount is only available on Xbox; the game remains at its regular price on other platforms.
