Stanley Tucci Cast in ‘Masterplan’ Prime Video Heist Series

Stanley Tucci, the Oscar-nominated actor, will star in a new Prime Video series where he attempts to steal Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa. Prime Video revealed its upcoming international shows during a live event in London today, February 12th. The series, called Masterplan, is a French-Italian co-production directed by Thomas Vincent, who also directed the show Reacher.

In a video message, the actor from The Devil Wears Prada praised the project highly. According to Variety, he described the scripts as “incredibly funny and weird.”

This is easily one of the most compelling characters I’ve ever had the chance to portray, and I was so excited to be cast. It’s a truly fantastic role for an actor. The entire cast is incredibly talented – Victor and Simona are both wonderful performers, and Thomas is a very skilled director. Plus, the filming locations are absolutely breathtaking and offer everything you could ask for in a production.

Victor Belmondo, known for his role in To Live, To Die, To Live Again, and Simona Tabasco, who recently starred in Season 2 of The White Lotus, will join Stanley Tucci in the new series. The show centers around Tucci’s character, Victor, who tries to reconnect with his estranged children by convincing them to help him steal a famous piece of art. Here’s what the show is about, according to an official description:

A notorious thief is planning to steal the Mona Lisa, and he needs help. He brings together two young people he’s never met – Chiara, an Italian tech whiz, and Jay, a confident French expert with explosives. The surprise? They’re his children, siblings who didn’t know each other existed! Now this unlikely family must quickly learn to cooperate – and avoid family drama – if they hope to succeed in what could be the biggest art heist ever.

Stanley Tucci’s Best Work is Happening on TV

Netflix

Stanley Tucci is currently enjoying a successful period in television, known for his roles in popular series like The Hunger Games, Captain America: The First Avenger, and Conclave. While his recent films, The Fountain of Youth and The Electric State, haven’t fared as well – with The Electric State being particularly poorly received, as highlighted by MovieWeb‘s Matt Mahler who jokingly asked, “Do Androids Dream of Bad Movies?” – his television work continues to impress.

I’ve been a huge fan of Stanley Tucci for years, and it’s amazing how consistently great he is! Just in the last ten years or so, he’s been in so many things I’ve loved – like voicing Herb on BoJack Horseman, playing DCI Morton in Fortitude, and being hilarious as Bitsy in Central Park. Then there’s Inside Man and Citadel – he just keeps popping up in fantastic shows! But honestly, I think his travel documentaries, Searching for Italy and Tucci in Italy, are where he really shines. They’re so personal, and it’s wonderful to see him connect with his family history through food. It’s no surprise everyone wants to work with him – he’s just brilliant!
