I’ve always loved *Star Trek: Voyager* – it has everything from the series’ highlights to its low points and most surprising twists. So, I was thrilled to hear about the new game, *Across The Unknown*, promising a chance to experience some of Captain Janeway’s toughest challenges. But I was really surprised to learn that the game will apparently let players change what actually happened in the show!
The new video game is bringing up a long-standing debate among *Voyager* fans – the one about Tuvix! Since the show originally aired, and now with it streaming on Paramount+, people have argued about Captain Janeway’s decision. This game will let players experience the situation and potentially make a different choice.

Star Trek: Voyager – Across The Unknown Will Let You Change The Tuvix Decision
Fans of *Star Trek: Voyager* noticed Tuvix appears in the new game trailer, and players will even get to decide if Captain Janeway should restore Tuvok and Neelix. You can watch the trailer below and see it for yourself!
I’m really excited for the upcoming game, *Star Trek: Voyager – Across The Unknown*, even though we don’t know when it will be released. Just the possibility of making choices about Tuvix – like deciding whether to save him – is enough to get me interested. I’m curious to see how that decision would affect the rest of the game’s story, and what other memorable moments they’ll include.

I’m Curious How Such A Big Decision Will Impact The Rest Of The Game
Changing the decision about Tuvix would have significantly altered the direction of *Star Trek: Voyager*. In a 2023 interview with TopMob, Tim Russ explained that he believed Captain Janeway did the right thing by separating Tuvok and Neelix, restoring them to their original selves. Given that Tuvok had a wife and family waiting for him, it was logical that he would be restored rather than remain as Tuvix.

Ronald D. Moore, a writer for Star Trek, shared some story ideas he proposed for Voyager before he left the show, and they sound fantastic. I wish those ideas had been used!
As much as I’d enjoy a really bold shake-up to the *Voyager* story – like actually integrating Tuvix into the bridge crew – I’m guessing *Across The Unknown* has a plan to avoid making that change permanent. Losing Tuvok and Neelix for the rest of the series just feels like too high a price to pay. I’m hoping it plays out like that *Lower Decks* episode with all the ‘Tuvix’d’ characters trying to seize control, and ultimately leads to Tuvix being separated again. That would be a clever way to have some fun with the idea without completely altering the core dynamics of the show.
This recent change makes me curious about what other elements of the game might be altered before its release on Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox. Could this be the opportunity fans who hoped for a romance between Chakotay and Janeway have been waiting for? While Kate Mulgrew hasn’t supported that idea in the past, it’s not impossible, and anything could happen during development!

Paramount+ offers streaming with plans starting at $7.99 per month or $59.99 per year. You can watch all things *Star Trek*, and choose between the Essential plan or the ad-free Premium plan for $12.99 a month, which also gives you access to more content. You can also save money by subscribing annually and paying for 10 months instead of 12. See the deal here.
Stay tuned for news about *Star Trek: Voyager – Across The Unknown*, and don’t forget you can still watch all the original *Star Trek* shows on Paramount+. I’m really excited about the new series and hope it lives up to my expectations, letting me enjoy the franchise all over again.
