After years of connection through comics and now as part of the same company, Disney, a crossover between Star Wars and the Marvel Cinematic Universe is supposedly happening. While both franchises have thrived under Disney’s ownership, especially on Disney+, fans were surprised to hear reports of a direct storyline connecting the two universes – but it seems one is finally in development.
Sources at Bleeding Cool report that Marvel Comics is collaborating with comic book veteran Mark Millar on a project, and an announcement could be coming soon. Bleeding Cool suggests this information comes from reliable sources, and points out that Marvel and DC previously used the ComicsPRO convention to reveal their crossover event. They believe an announcement is likely to happen soon.
Recent Marvel Comics Show How This Story Will Be Handled

Marvel’s recent team-up comics, like the just-finished Captain America and Alien crossover, offer a good idea of what to expect from this new story. It’s designed to be separate from the established storylines of both Star Wars and the Avengers, so fans won’t need to worry about it changing official canon (and the Star Wars Wiki won’t need major updates!). Star Wars has done similar out-of-canon stories before – they used to call them “Infinities” – and the creative possibilities are wide open.
Keep in mind that the ‘Avengers’ label covers a lot of ground, so this is more of a crossover event featuring both ‘Star Wars’ and the broader Marvel Universe. Given Mark Millar’s extensive work with Marvel characters, we can expect to see classic heroes like Wolverine face off against Darth Vader. The event will likely address long-standing fan debates, such as whether a lightsaber could pierce adamantium or Captain America’s shield. It also raises interesting questions: could the Hulk’s anger make him vulnerable to the dark side, potentially turning him into a Sith ally? And which Avengers would excel as Jedi?
While the idea of characters with Force powers meeting Avengers is thrilling, there are many other fun possibilities – like Tony Stark designing a new kind of lightsaber, Captain Marvel flying through the Death Star trenches, or Doctor Strange learning about the Jedi and Sith’s history. Considering all this potential, it’s surprising a Star Wars and Avengers team-up hasn’t happened sooner.
