Despite some recent disappointments, Star Wars remains a hugely popular franchise. Many fans continue to hope for a return to the wonder of the original trilogy, which holds a special place in their hearts. It all began with Star Wars: A New Hope, introducing the characters and settings that still define the series. Then, Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back really took the story to the next level with a shocking twist that’s become legendary.
With so much riding on it, Star Wars: Return of the Jedi had to deliver a satisfying conclusion to the entire saga. While the film largely succeeds, one particular part still causes arguments among fans even today. Now, Lucasfilm isn’t backing down from the criticism; instead, they’re actively defending what many consider the weakest point of the original trilogy and challenging anyone to disagree.
Star Wars: Return of the Jedi Makes a Fool Out of the Empire

A rebellion can only be as strong as the opposition it faces, and the Empire is a formidable foe. Emperor Palpatine cleverly controls all sides, eliminating anyone who might challenge his power. He crushes any potential threat, even resorting to destroying entire planets to cover up secrets. Despite a significant loss in A New Hope with the destruction of the Death Star, the Empire quickly recovers and forces the rebels into retreat after the Battle of Hoth. The Rebellion doesn’t gain enough strength to truly fight back until the middle of Return of the Jedi, when they finally discover the location of the second Death Star.
As a huge Star Wars fan, I always get excited when revisiting the Battle of Endor! It’s amazing how Han Solo and a small team went to the Forest Moon, determined to knock out the shield generator protecting the Death Star. Things went south fast, but then the Ewoks showed up, and honestly, they were a game-changer. These little guys didn’t just help – they totally crushed the Imperial forces, which was a bit of a shock! I know some people debate their role – some say it felt a little too convenient, like a ‘deus ex machina’ – but hey, I’m thrilled to see them getting another moment in the spotlight in the latest Star Wars series. It’s going to be awesome to see what they can do!
The Ewoks Are Back & Better Than Ever

Since Return of the Jedi, the Ewoks haven’t really been a big focus in Star Wars. Other creatures, like the Gungans, have taken their place. But the Star Wars: Visions series changes things – because those stories aren’t official canon, it allows for some fun possibilities. In Season 3, Episode 1, “The Duel: Payback,” we see a Ronin in a tough spot. He’s being hunted by the Grand Master, who leads a group of rogue Jedi called the Crusaders, and he desperately needs to find allies – and some of the faces helping him might surprise you.
As the Crusaders advance, they encounter fierce resistance from Ewoks who have set up traps on a bridge. The warriors try to avoid the obstacles, but it’s difficult because Ewoks are also hiding in the water, attacking anyone who gets close to the other side. Though the Ewoks can’t defeat the Crusaders’ leader, they handle most of the fighting, allowing the Ronin and his allies to concentrate on the main enemy. This battle in “The Duel: Payback” isn’t about saving the galaxy, but the Ewoks don’t know that – they always give it their all.
Star Wars: Visions is streaming on Disney+.
