The Inquisitorius, also known as the Order of the Inquisitors, was a group of Force-sensitive agents working for the Empire. Their main job was to track down and eliminate the remaining Jedi Knights. They also dealt with political opponents and captured children strong in the Force, preventing them from becoming Jedi and instead training them to serve the Empire. Each Inquisitor had a unique background, and some were even able to leave the program.
We’ll be covering every Inquisitor who has appeared in Star Wars, whether in TV shows like Obi-Wan Kenobi, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and Star Wars: Tales of the Empire, or in any of the books. And speaking of books…
16) Unnamed Inquisitor in Crimson Climb

Despite the movie Solo: A Star Wars Story not being a box office success, the character Qi’ra, played by Emilia Clarke, became very popular with fans. Because of this, she’s appeared in various Star Wars comics and novels since 2018, including E.K. Johnston’s 2023 novel, Crimson Climb.
This story is set after Rey and Han Solo part ways, but before Rey meets Darth Maul. During her travels, she’s sent to recover a Jedi relic from an ancient temple. While there, she discovers the remains of an Inquisitor who was killed by the temple’s security systems.
15) Tualon Yaluna

Tualon Yaluna, a former Jedi, survived the Empire’s systematic killing of the Jedi Knights—which began with Order 66—along with Iskat Akaris. However, they were both turned to the dark side and began serving under the Grand Inquisitor, ultimately answering to Darth Vader.
Yaluna and Akaris, also known as the Thirteenth Sister, developed a romantic relationship. This was against the rules for members of the Inquisitorius, who weren’t allowed to become involved with each other. When Darth Vader discovered their connection, he attempted to kill Akaris. Yaluna intervened, blocking Vader’s attack with her lightsaber, and the two of them fled. However, Vader used the Force to stop them, and tragically killed them both by forcing their own ignited lightsabers through each other’s bodies.
14) Barriss Offee

Barriss Offee, originally a Jedi apprentice known for her healing abilities and nurturing personality, fell to the dark side during the Clone Wars. Afterward, she joined Darth Vader and became one of his Inquisitors.
Following the execution of Order 66, she struck a bargain with the Fourth Sister and was brought to Fortress Inquisitorius. There, she began assisting the Empire in tracking down Jedi who had survived the Emperor’s purge. However, witnessing the Fourth Sister’s cruelty towards an entire town caused her to question her allegiances. She ultimately betrayed the Fourth Sister, pushing her off a cliff and taking on the role of a healer. Their paths converged again later, and after making the Fourth Sister doubt her loyalty to the Empire, the Fourth Sister unintentionally mortally wounded her, and she died in her arms.
13) The Thirteenth Sister aka Iskat Akaris

As we mentioned with Tualon Yaluna, Iskat Akaris was a former Jedi who joined the Inquisitors and became a skilled Jedi hunter. She and another Inquisitor fell in love, which caught the attention of Darth Vader. He attempted to kill Akaris, and after a chase across Coruscant, he succeeded – though they managed to briefly disable him with a speeder before his final attack.
12) The Tenth Brother

Prosset Dibs was a Jedi Master fighting during the Clone Wars. While on a mission to Hissrich, he found himself forced to act as a soldier rather than a peacemaker. He tried to kill Mace Windu and, after a trial, was sentenced to rehabilitation instead of execution.
After the Jedi Purge began, Dibs eagerly joined the Inquisitorius. He then accompanied Vader, the Ninth Sister, and the Sixth Brother on a mission to Mon Cala, where they were hunting a Padawan learner. During the hunt, the Padawan, Ferren Barr, cleverly tricked the accompanying Purge Troopers into turning on Dibs, leading them to believe they were following Order 66. The troopers ended up killing Dibs, though the Ninth Sister and Sixth Brother managed to escape.
11) The Ninth Sister

Originally a Jedi Knight named Masana Tide, the Ninth Sister was captured and tortured by the Empire. This led her to fall to the dark side, where she was trained by the Grand Inquisitor and, briefly, by Darth Vader. Later, as noted in the Tenth Brother’s record, she participated in a mission to Mon Cala to track down a runaway Padawan.
The Tenth Brother died, but the Ninth Sister and Sixth Brother escaped, though he lightly wounded the Ninth Sister with his lightsaber to help his getaway. Following that mission, she began assisting the Second Sister in her hunt for Cal Kestis (as seen in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order). She lost their first encounter with Kestis, but survived, and then went after another Jedi. Eventually, their paths crossed again on Coruscant, and she wasn’t able to escape this time.
10) The Eighth Brother

We don’t know much about the Eighth Brother’s time as a Jedi. He’s better known for being a Terrelian Jango Jumper. However, like the other Inquisitors, he was sensitive to the Force, meaning he likely held some role within the Jedi Order before his fall.
Driven by ambition, he led the search for the Jedi who had killed the Grand Inquisitor. However, Darth Vader redirected him to hunt down Darth Maul, finding him on Malachor. There, he also encountered the Jedi responsible for the Grand Inquisitor’s death, along with Ahsoka Tano. Outnumbered three to one, he retreated and was captured for questioning. He offered evasive answers until reinforcements arrived, but they were also defeated. Desperate, he tried to escape by jumping from the temple, hoping to use the spinning blades of his lightsaber as a makeshift rotor to fly, but the attempt failed and he crashed.
9) The Seventh Sister

For years, the Seventh Sister focused most of her efforts on hunting Ahsoka Tano. Her biggest ambition was to defeat Ahsoka, except for when she briefly tried to become the new Grand Inquisitor after the original was killed by two Jedi.
Surprisingly, it wasn’t Ahsoka or the other Jedi who defeated her. Instead, it was Maul, formerly Darth Maul. Working with the Fifth Brother, he helped the Eighth Brother fight the Jedi who had defeated the Grand Inquisitor and Ahsoka. Maul used the Force to hold Seventh Sister, then ordered one of the Jedi to kill her. When the Jedi refused, Maul fatally stabbed her with his lightsaber.
8) The Sixth Brother aka Bil Valen

Bil Valen, known as the Sixth Brother, made it off Mon Cala while the Tenth Brother died. He survived by crippling the Ninth Sister and leaving her for the pursuing troopers. After that mission, he continued hunting Jedi until he was defeated by Ahsoka Tano.
When the Sixth Brother learned Ahsoka was training a new Jedi, he immediately went to Raada by himself. He attacked some farmers and kidnapped a teen, then sent a message to lure Ahsoka back. Even though she didn’t have her lightsabers yet – she was still making new ones – Ahsoka defeated the Sixth Brother. She used the Force to rip the crystals from his spinning, double-bladed lightsaber, causing it to explode in his face.
7) The Fifth Brother

Okay, so everything we learned about the Seventh Sister? It totally applies to the Fifth Brother too, even the part about Maul killing him! He was really driven, but honestly, a bit too sure of himself, which meant he and the Seventh Sister were constantly clashing – they were basically two peas in a pod when it came to that competitive streak.
As the Seventh Sister pursued Maul and Ezra Bridger, the Fifth Brother hunted Kanan Jarrus and Ahsoka. Working with the Eighth Brother, he almost defeated them, but Maul intervened. Ahsoka used the chaos to strike the Fifth Brother’s lightsaber hilt, causing him to drop it. Quickly, Maul seized the moment and slashed the Fifth Brother in the abdomen.
6) The Fourth Sister aka Lyn Rakish

Similar to Barriss Offee, Lyn Rakish was once a Jedi who fell to the Dark Side and became an Inquisitor. She worked with the Grand Inquisitor to track down Obi-Wan Kenobi, as shown in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series.
The events of ‘The Hunt for Kenobi’ happened between her first and last encounters with Offee. During that final confrontation, she lost a friend and appeared to return to a more hopeful path. Rakish disappears from the story after that, with only her armor later being found by Lina Graf – it’s unclear whether it was given to her or taken. Hopefully, Rakish found a similar positive direction as Offee.
5) Marrok

Marrok is a shadowy figure within the Inquisitorius. Once called the First Brother, he later became a hired gun working for the Nightsister Morgan Elsbeth.
Marrok and Elsbeth were hunting for Grand Admiral Thrawn, but their search led them to Ahsoka Tano on Corellia first. They clashed, but Marrok retreated when his team managed to steal the hyperdrive core they needed to continue after Thrawn. Later, Ahsoka confronted Marrok again on Seatos, damaging his armor and revealing only green mist and a chilling scream. Even after his defeat, no one could determine Marrok’s identity or the source of the strange mist inside him.
4) The Eleventh Brother

Not much is known about the Eleventh Brother’s past before he became an Inquisitor. He was once a Jedi, but his identity remains a mystery. Even during his time as an Inquisitor, he doesn’t get much focus, appearing in only one episode each of Star Wars: Tales of the Empire and Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi.
Regardless, he was dispatched to a farming village with orders to find and eliminate a suspected Jedi. He brutally killed most of the villagers, but when that didn’t reveal the Jedi’s location, he burned the entire village to the ground. He then captured two survivors, forcing them into a fiery circle and threatening them with his lightsaber. Just then, Ahsoka Tano arrived and, after a quick battle, defeated the Eleventh Brother by beheading him with his own weapon.
3) The Third Sister aka Reva Sevander

Similar to Barriss Offee, the Third Sister, Reva Sevander, is one of the more sympathetic members of the Inquisitorious. She used to be a Jedi trainee, but she became an Inquisitor to get near Darth Vader, as she witnessed him kill the young Jedi trainees.
For a time, her scheme succeeds, but Darth Vader eventually discovers her true identity – though he’d known for a while without letting on. He lets her become the new Grand Inquisitor after the previous one appears to be killed in battle. This gets her close to Vader, and she attempts to attack him, but he anticipated her move and leaves her to die. Seeking revenge, she then goes after Luke Skywalker, but ultimately hesitates and is comforted by Obi-Wan Kenobi.
2) The Second Sister aka Trilla Suduri

The Second Sister appears in various Star Wars stories, but she’s best known as a key character in the video game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Once a Jedi Padawan named Trilla Suduri, she quickly became powerful on the dark side, even more so than she was on the light. She was a skilled, clever, and dangerous warrior, making her one of the most formidable members of the Inquisitorius.
Similar to the Ninth Sister, the Second Sister’s descent to the dark side was driven by torture, making her a particularly compelling character. It’s easy to understand how she embraced the dark side so fully. After Jedi Cal Kestis is saved by his former teacher, Jedi Knight Cere Junda, the Second Sister hunts them down. Their pursuit culminates in a confrontation at the Inquisitorius headquarters on Nur, where Kestis defeats her. He allows her a final moment with Junda, but Darth Vader abruptly ends it by killing the Second Sister.
1) The Grand Inquisitor

The Grand Inquisitor, a former Jedi Temple Guard whose identity remains unknown, served as Darth Vader’s top assistant. When the Third Sister attempted to take his place, she failed and suffered the consequences.
Several years after the story of Obi-Wan Kenobi, the Grand Inquisitor was tracking a group of rebels on the planet Lothal, specifically targeting Kanan Jarrus and his apprentice, Ezra Bridger. During a confrontation, the Grand Inquisitor deliberately lost the fight, choosing to be defeated by Jarrus and Bridger rather than face Lord Vader and admit his failure. Despite this, Vader wasn’t finished with him – he captured the Grand Inquisitor’s spirit and condemned him to eternally guard an ancient, deserted Jedi temple.
