It’s plausible that when Kylo attempted to blame Snoke’s death on Rey, Hux might have suspected Kylo was the true culprit. Given his unwavering loyalty to Snoke, it isn’t shocking that he would take steps against Ren.

In the opening scenes of “The Rise of Skywalker“, the Resistance learns that Emperor Palpatine is still alive, hidden on Exegol, thanks to intel from a covert agent within the First Order. During an attempt to rescue Chewbacca by infiltrating a Star Destroyer, Hux helps Finn, Poe, and Chewie escape. However, Allegiant General Pryde suspects Hux is a traitor and ends up executing him.
