At The Game Awards 2025, we were really impressed by Star Wars: Galactic Racer, along with Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic and its connection to Knights of the Old Republic. While many Star Wars games have been released over the years – covering genres like action-adventure and open-world – none have quite matched the excitement of the original Star Wars Episode 1: Racer from 1999.
Fans concerned about the absence of pod racing in Galactic Racer can rest easy – Matt Webster, CEO and co-founder of Fuse Games, has confirmed it will be included, according to GamesRadar+.
It just wouldn’t feel right to have a Star Wars racing game without Podracing! The whole idea is to become a top pilot in the Galactic League, and Podracing represents the fastest, most exciting racing the Star Wars universe has to offer.
When we started making Galactic Racer, we aimed to offer a wide variety of experiences. We wanted players to be able to drive different types of vehicles and enjoy many different styles of racing. Galactic Racer lets you pilot familiar vehicles as well as new ones, both on your own and with others.
Fans will recognize vehicles like Luke Skywalker’s Landspeeder from A New Hope and the Speeder Bike featured in the chase scene from Return of the Jedi. The reveal trailer also showed other interesting repulsorlift vehicles, suggesting Fuse Games has more surprises planned. No matter which vehicle you choose, the game will offer multiple viewpoints.
The team put a lot of work into the camera system, especially the third-person view, because it’s crucial to how the game feels to play. Other camera options will make players feel more connected to their vehicle, giving a better sense of speed and helping them stay aware of what’s happening during close races. A first-person view is available too, so players have options.
Get ready to race across the galaxy! Star Wars: Galactic Racer is coming to Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC later this year. The game follows Shade as they compete in the Galactic League, aiming for both revenge and fame. Players can build and customize their own repulsorcraft and battle it out in player-versus-player (PvP) races, in addition to experiencing the game’s Story Mode.
