A Star Wars game first revealed in 2021 is showing encouraging progress. The Star Wars franchise has had an inconsistent run over the past ten years. Following a mix of successful and unsuccessful films, the focus shifted to streaming shows. However, a new movie is planned after a seven-year hiatus. Disney hasn’t released many Star Wars video games, with only a few titles like the Battlefront series, the Jedi games, and *Star Wars Outlaws*. Several other game projects were cancelled, and some remain stuck in development.
I’ve been super hyped about *Star Wars Eclipse* ever since it was announced at The Game Awards back in 2021. What really got me excited is that it’s going to be the first game set in the High Republic era – a part of the Star Wars universe we haven’t really gotten to play in yet, though *Star Wars Jedi: Survivor* did give us a little taste. From what I’ve heard, *Eclipse* is planning to have a really cool branching story where my choices actually matter and change things up in the game world.
Star Wars Eclipse Remains in Development Despite Years of Silence
We haven’t heard much about *Star Wars Eclipse* since it was first announced years ago, aside from a leaked piece of concept art. The game remains a mystery, and it seems the reason is that it was very early in development when it was revealed. Reports suggest that Quantic Dream announced the game primarily to help them hire new employees and attract talent to the studio, even though it wasn’t very far along in production.
There were concerns that *Star Wars Eclipse* might be cancelled, but Quantic Dream has confirmed that development is still ongoing. The studio stated they plan to share more details about the game soon. This is good news, as projects like this can sometimes quietly disappear, but the developers are aware of the excitement surrounding the game and want to keep fans informed.
Quantic Dream is working on a new competitive multiplayer game. Development of Star Wars: Eclipse is also still underway.

If development of *Eclipse* truly started in 2021, we might get an updated look at the game next year, potentially with a release in 2027. While reports in 2023 suggested a 2026 release, that now seems doubtful unless Quantic Dream shows the game again soon and releases it quickly. It’s possible *Eclipse* could be one of the first games for the next generation of Xbox and PlayStation, but we’ll have to wait for more information.
