The next Star Wars series on Disney+, arriving April 6th, promises to be a compelling story for fans. Titled Star Wars: Maul — Shadow Lord, it will explore Darth Maul’s journey as he questions the Empire and begins to build his own criminal organization, taking on a new apprentice to help him reshape the galactic underworld. The series aims to fulfill original ideas George Lucas had for the character and will also introduce fresh faces, including a new Jedi.
This Monday, Star Wars revealed a new poster for Star Wars: Maul — Shadow Lord, showcasing the character Devon Izara. The post on X highlighted that Izara is a unique Jedi, and fans are already enthusiastic about this new Twi’lek Jedi Padawan. You can see the poster below.

Could Devon Izara Actually Be a Star Wars Legends Character?
The introduction of the character Devon Izara has sparked a lot of discussion among fans, particularly about their potential future. A popular theory suggests Izara could eventually become Darth Talon. This idea stems from the Star Wars Legends continuity, where Darth Talon is a Twi’lek with a strikingly similar appearance to Izara – including reddish skin. Given that Darth Talon was once an apprentice to Darth Maul, and Izara is currently being presented as a Jedi Padawan, a turn to the dark side feels quite possible.
The comic Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord follows Devon, a Jedi fleeing the Empire after the devastating Order 66. She finds herself on the planet Janix, where Darth Maul sees her as a potential apprentice. Given the trauma Devon experienced and the loss of her future as a Jedi, she’s vulnerable to Maul’s influence and the pull of the dark side. Maul’s recruitment efforts could be surprisingly effective, as he and Devon share a common enemy: the Galactic Empire.
The possibility of Devon becoming Darth Maul’s apprentice – and ultimately evolving into Darth Talon – fits well with the character’s description as someone extraordinary. Devon is grappling with trauma, loss, and the challenge of maintaining her beliefs amidst hardship. This, combined with constantly being hunted by the Empire, could create a sense of resentment that would make Maul’s offer to fight back very appealing. In the Star Wars galaxy, suffering can profoundly change a person, and make them susceptible to dark paths.
