With excitement building for a possible announcement of the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake, it appears the sequel, Knights of the Old Republic II, may also be getting a remake. GameFile’s Stephen Totilo recently looked into several official documents and a statement from Lucasfilm Games VP Douglas Reilly concerning the removal of the “Restored Content” DLC from the Switch version of KOTOR 2.
During the investigation, he found references to Project Juliet, a complete reimagining of Knights of the Old Republic 2. As of March 2025, the project was either in development or had been. According to Reilly, it aimed to update the story, characters, and overall content of KOTOR 2 with modern graphics and gameplay for current gaming systems.
The project was talked about with Aspyr, but it’s unclear where things stand now. In a recent post on Bluesky, Totilo mentioned that this remake will also feature content that was originally cut from the game by Obsidian, which is being called the “Restored Content” DLC. It’s still unknown if any changes have been made to these plans. Given the uncertainty surrounding Knights of the Old Republic – Remake, it’s somewhat surprising that a remake of the sequel is happening at all.
The game might be closer to release than we thought, potentially launching next year. Originally revealed for PlayStation 5 and PC in 2021, some concept art and early level designs have already surfaced online. We’ll have more information at The Game Awards on December 11th.
I shared some interesting news, but the biggest takeaway is likely this: Disney and Lucasfilm Games were actively planning a complete remake of Knights of the Old Republic II as recently as March. This isn’t just a simple update or port; it’s a full remake, and it sounds like they were aiming to include content that was originally cut from the game by Obsidian Entertainment.
