The development of the Knights of the Old Republic remake has been quite a bumpy ride, but it looks like things might be improving. First announced in 2021, the KOTOR remake has faced changes in which studio was working on it and many reports that it might be canceled. However, it seems work on the game has continued.
A well-known source, Kurakasis, recently shared on X that a major Star Wars game reveal is happening soon. This news could be a positive sign for the rumored remake of KOTOR. However, Kurakasis clarified that the announcement won’t involve either Zero Company or Eclipse.
If the game is connected to an existing project, it’s likely to be KOTOR, another Star Wars Jedi game, or a new game being developed by Amy Hennig and Skydance.

A Twisting Journey To Release
Honestly, following the development of the KOTOR remake has been a bit of a rollercoaster. It started with whispers of delays back in 2022, which were worrying, and then they even took down the original trailer last year. Things got even stranger when the team switched from Aspyr to Saber Interactive, and then Saber got sold off by its parent company, Embracer. It’s been a confusing ride, and I’m starting to get a little nervous about whether we’ll ever actually see this game.
Okay, so there’s been a lot of back and forth about the KOTOR remake, but recently, Tim Willits from Saber Interactive said that everything they’ve talked about is still happening. That’s a pretty big relief – it sounds like the remake hasn’t been cancelled! Now, everyone’s wondering when we’ll actually see the game again, and that’s what I’m really interested in.
Could We Get A Re-Reveal Soon?
The Game Awards Could Be A Great Opportunity
A return for the original KOTOR game feels increasingly possible. Currently, a KOTOR remake, a new Jedi game, or a completely original title seem like the most likely options. However, Amy Hennig and Skydance are still working on their delayed Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra game, making a reveal of their Star Wars project unlikely in the near future.
The Game Awards 2025 are just a week away, and it’s a likely place we’ll hear about a new Star Wars game. While several games are currently being made, updates have been scarce, and fans are eager for any news. A new trailer at The Game Awards would be a great way to reach a large audience.
If Kurakasis’s prediction is correct, we’ll likely hear news about the Knights of the Old Republic remake soon. Development has been difficult and taken a long time, but it might finally be nearing completion. If the remake doesn’t pan out, we could still get a brand new Star Wars game, which would be a great alternative.
