Star Wars: KOTOR 2 Remake Is Also on the Cards, Includes Cut Content

With rumors swirling about a potential re-announcement of the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake this week, a new report indicates that a remake of its sequel is also being considered.

In a recent article about the Nintendo Switch version of Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords, Game File’s Stephen Totilo reported that a complete remake of the 2004 role-playing game is still in development as of March 2025. The remake is expected to include content that was originally cut from the final version of the game by its developer, Obsidian.

Details about the cancelled Nintendo Switch version of the original Knights of the Old Republic, and the separate, unannounced remake, have emerged from legal documents. These documents relate to a lawsuit against Aspyr Media and Lucasfilm concerning the removal of restored content from the Switch port. The remake is referred to as ‘Project Juliet’ in these filings.

Lucasfilm Games VP Douglas Reilly described Project Juliet as a complete rebuild of Knights of the Old Republic 2. The goal is to update the game with contemporary graphics and gameplay while preserving the original story, characters, and overall content for modern systems.

Back in March 2025, Project Juliet was planned for development, but it’s unclear if that’s still true now, almost nine months later. The team is currently focused on finishing the remake of the first game, and that work is being handled by Mad Head Games, the studio behind Hellraiser: Revival.

Rumors suggest an announcement about a new Star Wars game is coming very soon, possibly at The Game Awards on Thursday. The most talked-about possibility is a remake of the original Knights of the Old Republic, but some people are also speculating about a Star Wars strategy game in the style of the Total War series.
