Star Wars Legend Reveals Mandalorian & Grogu Regret

A well-known actor from the Star Wars universe has recently shared a regret following the release of Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu. The new movie has received mixed reactions and is performing poorly in theaters. Although critics aren’t thrilled (giving it a 62% rating on Rotten Tomatoes), audiences seem to enjoy it more (with an 87% rating). Despite this, the film isn’t doing well financially, and The Mandalorian and Grogu has quickly dropped out of the top five highest-grossing movies after just three weeks. Some believe the movie might have been more successful if a certain beloved character had been included.

Temuera Morrison, who played Boba Fett, shared on Instagram that he’d hoped to appear in The Mandalorian and Grogu. He said this while signing an autograph for a fan at a convention, who expressed their wish to have seen Boba Fett in the movie. Morrison replied that he was also hoping for a chance to be involved and help out.

Why Wasn’t Boba Fett in The Mandalorian & Grogu?

Daniel Logan, the actor who played Boba Fett, doesn’t expect to return to Star Wars immediately, but he’s optimistic about the future. He compared his current status to being ‘shelved’ like a jar of peaches, suggesting he’ll be even better when he eventually returns. In an interview with Inverse earlier this year, Logan pointed out he’s played multiple clone characters – Jango Fett, Boba Fett, Commander Cody, Captain Rex, and more – and therefore feels grateful for his time in the franchise.

Adding Boba Fett to the movie wouldn’t have made sense and wouldn’t have impacted the plot. It would have felt like a forced appearance just to please fans, and likely would have given critics something new to dislike. Ultimately, the movie felt like a longer version of a few episodes of The Mandalorian and Grogu, and including Boba Fett would have distracted from the main story.

This installment of the story truly belonged to Grogu, showcasing his growth and independence as a Jedi. While Mando served as his guide, the film demonstrated Grogu’s readiness to fight as a capable warrior. The narrative even required Mando to step aside, allowing Grogu to prove himself and ultimately be the hero. Introducing a strong character like Boba Fett would have diverted attention from Grogu’s journey of self-reliance.
