Star Wars Outlaws on Nintendo Switch 2 Will Get a Demo

Ubisoft has announced that the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 version of Star Wars Outlaws will offer a free trial version as well. While specifics like the release date and what exactly the demo will cover are yet to be revealed on their official website, Ubisoft plans to disclose more information about the demo for Star Wars Outlaws on the Nintendo Switch 2 in the near future.

Originally launched on various platforms such as PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S in August 2024, the title made its Nintendo Switch 2 debut on September 4. The FAQ reveals additional details regarding this release, including unique features exclusive to the Switch 2 version. These include enhancements for handheld mode, motion controls for select gameplay, touchscreen navigation for menus, and a few mini-games, as well as gyroscopic aiming.

According to Ubisoft’s confirmation, “Star Wars Outlaws” on the Switch 2 can run smoothly at frame rates of up to 30 FPS in both docked and handheld modes. It’s important to note that while the game needs an Internet connection for installation, you can play it offline once installed.

Alongside the launch of Star Wars Outlaws on Switch 2, you’ll find all the updates and enhancements that have been made to the game on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S since its debut, such as gameplay tweaks and technical improvements for better stability. Plus, both existing DLCs for the game – Wild Card and A Pirate’s Fortune – come bundled with your purchase.

Concerning the method of physically releasing the game, Ubisoft has clarified that it uses a Game-Key Card. This card doesn’t contain any game data within it. Instead, the cartridge functions as verification for the console that you possess the game. The actual installation happens online after downloading the title, whereupon the console downloads all necessary data. Note that the Ultimate pack content will need to be separately purchased for the Switch 2 version since only the Gold Edition is being released initially. You can obtain the Ultimate pack from the Nintendo eShop.

Back in July, it was officially announced that “Star Wars Outlaws” would be making its way to the second iteration of the Nintendo Switch. During this announcement, creative director Drew Rechner and Redlynx senior producer Pasi Piispa unveiled some unique features specifically designed for the game on the Switch 2.

A few weeks ago, two videos surfaced online due to a user who obtained the game ahead of its official release date. These videos offered an impressive demonstration of both handheld and docked modes of Star Wars Outlaws on the rumored Nintendo Switch 2, highlighting the game’s graphics and performance in each mode. However, it remains unclear whether the gameplay shown in these videos incorporated the intended day-one update for the game.
