Star Wars: Simon Kinberg’s Reveals New Trilogy’s Inspiration

Simon Kinberg has shared insights on the sources he’s tapping into to craft a fresh Star Wars movie trilogy.

What did Simon Kinberg say about his Star Wars trilogy?

In a recent chat with ScreenRant, Kinberg emphasized the need for equilibrium in the Star Wars universe. He hinted at appreciating productions such as Andor and Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back among his preferred Star Wars endeavors.

In my view, among the Star Wars films, Empire Strikes Back stands out as my favorite due to its remarkable blend of grandeur and intimacy. These stories feel deeply personal yet they’re packed with captivating science fiction elements. I believe that Andor achieved a similar feat, crafting an emotionally engaging, intense, and highly personal series while also incorporating significant political backdrops and larger-than-life stakes.

At the moment, not much information has been disclosed about the trilogy of movies by director Kinberg. However, he’s widely recognized for his work on movies such as Sherlock Holmes, The 355, and many others.

In a future date, May 22, 2026, a new Star Wars film titled “The Mandalorian and Grogu” is set to release. This film serves as an extension of the popular Disney+ series, “The Mandalorian.” The director for this project is Jon Favreau, with Dave Filoni overseeing production. Pedro Pascal will once again play Din Djarin, while Sigourney Weaver and Jeremy Allen White are also part of the cast.

Following this, the movie Star Wars: Starfighter is scheduled for release on May 28, 2027. Directed by Shawn Levy, it features Ryan Gosling and takes place post-The Rise of Skywalker events.
