Star Wars: Visions Season 3 Drops New Look at Cast

At Anime NYC, Lucasfilm hosted a special event to preview the third season of the animated series, “Star Wars: Visions.” During this panel, James Waugh, who serves as Executive Producer and Vice President of content at Lucasfilm, shared exciting sneak peeks for the new season. Among these previews was the reveal of a poster showcasing the main cast members. Notably, each episode in “Star Wars: Visions” is produced, written, and animated by studios outside the U.S., with Japanese studios such as TRIGGER and Production I.G. handling production for the first season. However, for the second season, production of the Star Wars shorts was expanded to include contributions from other countries.

In a panel, it was revealed that Lucasfilm intends to collaborate with Japanese studios for the third season of Star Wars: Visions. According to Waugh, this decision comes from the desire to capture anime’s distinctive cultural perspective and its unique storytelling. The upcoming season is described as a collection, or “mixtape,” showcasing both familiar stories from the first season as well as new narratives. Notable episodes such as “The Ninth Jedi,” “The Duel,” and “The Village Bride” will have sequels in Season 3. Interestingly, “The Ninth Jedi” is being developed into a separate mini-series. The premiere of Star Wars: Visions Season 3 on Disney+ is set for October 29th.

Everything to Know For Star Wars: Visions Season 3

At Anime NYC’s panel, attendees were gifted a poster showcasing the main artwork for season 3 and were given the opportunity to preview an episode from the upcoming season titled “Black.” The poster presents the principal characters for all nine episodes, blending a variety of familiar faces with several fresh ones. Characters like the Ronin from “The Duel,” F from “The Village Bride,” and Lah Kara from “The Ninth Jedi” are depicted in the central image, accompanied by the new cast members who will feature in the remaining episodes of the season.

This “Black” episode is portrayed as a psychedelic conflict between the past and present, utilizing imaginative imagery and animation to narrate a chilling tale from a stormtrooper’s perspective. The production studio behind this episode is David Production, known for their work on the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure anime series. Other non-sequel episodes in the third season include “Yuko’s Treasure,” which features a comical adventure starring a Tatooine bear as the protagonist, “The Smuggler” delves into criminal underworld activities, and “The Bounty Hunter” offers an action-packed experience with star fighters. Previews at Anime NYC hinted that “Yuko’s Treasure” and “The Smuggler” are in store for viewers.

In contrast to previous seasons, all nine episodes of Star Wars: Visions Season 3 will be made available simultaneously upon release. As for the The Ninth Jedi mini-series, it is slated to premiere sometime in 2026. The popularity of anime has led Western companies like Lucasfilm and Disney to embrace this style, with several of their most successful streaming shows being anime productions. By catering to anime fans with Visions, they could potentially attract millions of new viewers.
