With rumors resurfacing about a large 2.0 update for Starfield, a PlayStation 5 version of the game likely can’t be far behind.
The discussion about a major update, often called ‘2.0’, began last year with news that the game’s way of moving through space would be completely redesigned.
The rumors then grew, suggesting this was actually part of a much larger update – version 2.0 – that would be released at the same time as the PlayStation 5 version.
Many are anticipating that Starfield will have a similar launch – and impact – as Cyberpunk 2077. The more people talk about this possibility, though, the more challenging it will be for Bethesda to meet those expectations.
Let’s not get ahead of ourselves – is there actually proof that Starfield 2.0 is in development? While Bethesda hasn’t officially announced anything, several well-known content creators have stated they were given a preview of it at an event last year.
MrMattyPlays is the latest source supporting these reports. On the Xbox podcast Defining Duke, the YouTuber explained he’d seen version 2.0 firsthand, but believes it’s hard to understand exactly what Bethesda plans to do with the update.
Since this isn’t the first leak – another creator revealed details back in December – it’s pretty clear the event took place and that version 2.0 is real.
The main question now is simply when Bethesda will release the update to everyone. We don’t think the official announcement is very far off.
